Lucy-Lastic 20-04-2005, 12:31 Hi The Park nursery has an excellent reputation if you dont need a fulltime place (i.e. a few sessions a week so it wasnt that good for me and Im at the other end of Hillsborough). Ive just enrolled my son at Bole Hill which also has a good reputation. I also liked the one off Wood Lane in Stannington (Woodlands I think its called). Good luck in your search, but do go and have a look at a few as each one has good things about it. HTH LisaHxxx nikkid 20-04-2005, 15:10 Thanks for your replies - I'll have a look at these fox20thc 20-04-2005, 16:33 Little Winners Neighbourhood Nursery (http://www.geocities.com/middlewooduk/littlewinners.html) I can highly recommend Little Winners. A brand new purpose built facility. Secure, electronic locks on all major exits. Small numbers, great ratio. Brand new equipment, the staff have a total of at least 35 yrs experience between them. Check out the website or telephone Ruth Goddard nursery manager to arrange a visit on 0114-2855005       Clik32 20-04-2005, 17:43 Bole Hill :) It's lovely there :) pdrnsf 20-04-2005, 18:30 Creswick Street Young Childrens Centre on the Langsett Estate is excellent. fox20thc 20-04-2005, 19:17 Still think Little Winners is the best     Zebra 20-04-2005, 19:34 I would suggest you steer clear of PARK. I worked for them for some time several years ago and as a result of seeing some of the standards, I would never put my own children there. It was nothing that Ofsted would be interested in, but, stuff that a parent would probably frown upon. That's my opinion, based on my experience. fox20thc 20-04-2005, 19:38 Originally posted by Zebra I would suggest you steer clear of PARK. I could not bring myself to comment.. but I agree fox20thc 20-04-2005, 19:41 Along the same sort of lines... (plug plug) Winners Toddler Group operates on Fridays 10-12 in the community space there if you want to get out and socialise with your little one. 50p ** refreshments provided ** health visitor support ** They're a friendly bunch. Lucy-Lastic 20-04-2005, 19:52 Oh Dear the PARK nursery must have really gone downhill from when I looked with my first son...it used to be really good:-o I agree about the toddler group thingy at Winn Gardens Pavillion - they are a lovely bunch:D LisaH xxx fox20thc 20-04-2005, 20:04 Thanks Lisa such a nice thing to say. We have no minor exits available.......... ever!:hihi: drp215 20-04-2005, 21:29 In the same position as you... just wanted to find a nursery that would accept a child for a couple of sessions rather than full time.. very hard. Bole hill seemed lovely. Do MW just do short sessions or does it have to be a minimum of hours? fox20thc 20-04-2005, 21:32 Little Winners will do as many or as few sessions as you require. Tell them what you need and they will do their best to help. It is a neighbourhood nursery, (part of the neighbourhood nurseries initiative) so is more community/parent focused than private daycare. Give Ruth a call she is lovely and will be happy to show you around the nursery. call her on : 2855005  NatalieSheff 11-05-2005, 12:37 im having a nightmare looking for a nursery - finding faults with everyone suggested! do most have waiting list? how soon do you have to sign up? whats the general price for full time? do you recommend private nursery or do school ones take from 3-6months? Lucy-Lastic 11-05-2005, 14:41 Hi School ones wont generally take until 3y....so it looks like private for you. Some places do operate a waiting list yes - it depends how popular they are. Try and make sure you leave plenty of time before you want your baby to start to make sure you can get a place. For Bole Hill I think the price is £495.40 a month which seems reasonably cheap compared to some of the others Ive seen. Hope you find something you like LisaHxxx savbaby 11-05-2005, 15:04 i use Little Rascals on Halifax Rd, they are great. My baba loves it, she is 6 months old and they accept them from 3 months i think, there are a couple of places left for babies. i would highly recommend them as i was .... ClaraBella 11-05-2005, 19:21 You should try having a look in the Sheffield Sixer. They advertise laods of local HIllsborough/Stannington Nurseries in it. Woodlands is a lovely nursery but i'm fairly sure they take babies from 6 months. Theres a new one at Oughtibridge i think its called Daisy Chain that takes them from 2/3 months. Good Luck. Clare fox20thc 12-05-2005, 15:32 As previously mentioned, please give little winners a try. They are a fabulous team and would be only happy to show you around at your convenience. Hey, If you want the guided tour, I'll even take you around. Clik32 12-05-2005, 20:09 Not been funny with you FOX but you're bound to think YOUR nursery is best. Just give people advice, don't ram it down their throats. Agree that Bole Hill is lovely though, LisaH :) fox20thc 12-05-2005, 20:16 Originally posted by Chloe Not been funny with you FOX but you're bound to think YOUR nursery is best. Just give people advice, don't ram it down their throats. Its not MY nursery. I have visited all the other nurseries in the area to compare. I don't own it, don't get anything from it, just want children to get the best care. As this is a brand new facility I am doing what we in the trade would call capacity building. If people don't know its there they can't access it. As the standard of care and ratios are so good I believe in the information I am passing on to people. certain nurseries in the area are quoting a 'great' ofsted inspection when I know for a fact they have yet to have a full visit! I am just emphasising the open door policy this facility has and that as a not for profit company, the only thing that is important to the nursery is the child. marshall 17-05-2005, 15:02 try the new nursery opposite little winners called elmore kindergarten, purpose built ,quality 2348998 Lucy-Lastic 17-05-2005, 17:51 Originally posted by marshall try the new nursery opposite little winners called elmore kindergarten, purpose built ,quality 2348998 Ive used the other 2 Elmore Kindergartens (Broomhill and Ecclesfield) and they were quite nice. Please take the time to visit and compare both facilities, as the architect for Little Winners can confirm that this was built specifically to meet the needs of all children with all abilities. On one level with no steps/stairs. Little Winners welcome anyone to visit anytime, please call 2855005:thumbsup: Lucy-Lastic 18-05-2005, 11:44 OK Fox20thc we get the hint - YOU like Little Winners, we dont need it ramming down our throats! People really need to look at different places for themselves - what suits some people will not suit all. For what its worth I did look at LW and was not impressed:-o LisaHxxx marshall 18-05-2005, 15:56 nice comments lisaH vikki 02-06-2005, 14:50 does any one who placed their child at park remember a lady called Gillian Biggin she tended to deal with the older children or special needs. if so what were your veiws on her NatalieSheff 15-06-2005, 13:24 am i being over picky? - middlewood nursery looks scruffy on outside and the building is unfinished - looks like they ran out of money and the staff smoke out side of nursery b4 they go in - tut tut! hope u wash ur hands! the one at oughtibridge has steep stairs between floors! the one at chapletown put me off as the staff wore flipflops - errr hello! and the kids sleep eat and play in the same room. NatalieSheff 15-06-2005, 15:37 yeah sorry, is that where you work? you have to admit it looks a bit pants. is the graffiti still on wall? glad that petrol station has disappeared - think it may have been down to my neighbours and i complaining about rats and kids loitering etc... but anyway, that nursery would be ideal as i live on WPV fox20thc 15-06-2005, 15:48 Originally posted by NatalieSheff yeah sorry, is that where you work? you have to admit it looks a bit pants. is the graffiti still on wall? glad that petrol station has disappeared - think it may have been down to my neighbours and i complaining about rats and kids loitering etc... but anyway, that nursery would be ideal as i live on WPV No Natalie, its not where I work. I don't work in any nursery but have connections with one. I will get shot down in flames for even saying this but I will.. Little Winners nursery in Middlewood Park is beautiful, it is part of the Neighbourhood Nurseries Initiative and brand new. They just had their first OFSTED inspection (they just turn up now, no appointment necessary) and got a fantastic report. Therefore I can with confidence say that it is a brilliant place to take children to. Elmore is a private day nursery and is the third one to be built, I do agree it looks unfinished but I am not one to judge I suggest prospective parents do that. fox20thc 08-11-2005, 16:13 Just a courtesy note to remind you all that Little Winners Neighbourhood Nursery are taking applications from 6mths old. very friendly team and fab ofsted Little Winners Neighbourhood Nursery (http://www.geocities.com/middlewooduk/littlewinners.html?1131469642655) |
