For those who don't much use other pages on this Forum, I can recommend the very useful Computer and tech site on this forum. I have found it to be very helpful in sorting out computer problems (better than a helpline at a 1£ a minute). There are some very knowledgeable and helpful guys on this forum, such as Vidster, Lurch and sccsux. I have posted several queries in the last week or so and have got very helpful replies very quickly.

yea i have also been to them with my problems and got loads of replys very quickly  much better than other forums over populated with 12yr old geeks that feel all powerful knowing something u dont and are very nasty about letting u know (speaking from experiance) and much cheaper/effective than helplines. 3 cheers for the tech help forum!

I agree, i enjoy the tec site, trouble is i don't understand half the questions thats asked let alone the answers, some clever folks on here, but it's good reading.

One thing i really like about it is that the experts are not condescending towards those with far less knowledge than themselves.

For example, I recently asked what i now realise was a silly question, but vital at the time nonetheless. I needed to reinstall Windows XP, but couldn't remember where I had put the key code. Vidster replied immediately, asking me to look on the side or bottom of my machine - and sure enough there was a hologram with a key code on it. He even included a picture of the keycode hologram. I would never have thought of looking there. Problem solved!

Vidster's also quite active in another forum over at http://www.cbttechs.com/forums where there's a similar friendly atmosphere.
Anyone who has a technical issue that SF's own experts can't help with, try over there.

Thought that was me, hey ho, just as well I don't do it for the glory. :)

Sorry Lurch,

It indeed was you and you definitely deserve the accolade! Many thanks again.
