A friend of mine is looking into becoming an electrician, although we dont know where to start with courses and such. He is in employment but works odd hours so will have time for home study but we want to know if anyone knows of which course is best to do, it will have to involve home study but he can attend odd weeks for hands on training.

Does anyone know which qualifications are the best to have, how much the course is and where to do it?

thankyou.

Sheffield college best bet, my lad went on and paid fee's himself etc as needed to pass the exam's for his line of business. He's 21 this month and now runs his own:thumbsup: Real proud of you son!

Well then you're only just out of date. 17th came into effect on July 1st of this year. :)

Yes Sheffield College, tell your friend to get the Choices brochure (either ring the college or get a copy from Sheffield Library). It details all the part-time courses they do starting in September, including electrical installation NVQ Level 2 (which he will probably start with).
