View Full Version : Snooze you Lose
DaBouncer 14-10-2003, 09:22 Do you snooze your alarm in a morning?
Do you get straight outta bed when the almighty sleep ruining machine tells you it's time for work?
How many times do you snooze the alarm?
Do you find that snoozing helps you come round in the morning, or is it just another form of personal torture because we know... NOW is the time to get up?
Tell me your thoughts?
The alarm generally doesn't have time to go off as the little noise it gives prior to that wakes me up. Having said that, I can sleep through just about anything else. I was in Weymouth in the year they had the worst storm since the last one. The whole hotel woke up and people were running round putting towels under windows and doors, fire and car alarms were going off, ambulances, police cars, fire engines all racing round doing what ever they do, my wife kept getting up as the window was constantly being blown open. Me? Dead to the world, not a peep, sparked out, in the land of nod, the arms of somnus.
Funny old world.
How do you snooze a two year old programmed to go off at 6am every morning?
Prior to fatherhood I never had an alarm. Somehow, I was always able to wake up at the exact time I needed to - Weird!
Never one to lounge in bed though - get up and do!
It's a simple choice for me, I either get straight up, or don't bother getting up at all.
upholder 14-10-2003, 11:51 Never had an alarm either, I just seem to rise at the required time.
Having children does help.
There's a joke in there some where.
*Twinkle* 14-10-2003, 18:47 I use the alarm on my mobile to get me up! I never press snooze because if I don't get up when the alarm goes off, then I end up very late for 6th form!
kittykat 14-10-2003, 19:26 I wouldnt worry about being late for 6th form i must have only turned up to about 65% of my lessons and was late for about 80% of them. My alarm is set to 15 mins before crucial getting up time so i can lay in bed for a bit. Sometime i fall to sleep but if im late im late theres no point in rushing in my opinion.

Tut tut. Poor punctuality gives a bad impression. :nono: ;)
alchresearch 14-10-2003, 20:00 So, what time do we all get up then?
And what kind of alarm do you have? Buzzer or Radio?
And if a radio, which station?
I'll kick things off with 7.15am, Radio 2.
I don't like to wake up and then jump straight out of bed. I like to come around in bed and slowly wake up. I generally snooze twice before actually getting up.
purplepippa 15-10-2003, 02:12 Well as you've probably gathered by the average times of my postings that I'm a complete insomniac.
That means I either wake at 5am or so (having got to sleep around 3) or finally one day my body needs to catch up and I sleep for a loooooong time.
So I either am awake hours before my alarm, or alternatively, go off as it might, it cannae wake me!

Exactly...I also have to catch two buses to get to 6th form, so being slack with waking up time is not the way to go about it!

I so wish I'd have took my own advise this morning. Why is it you always think "I'll just lie here another couple of minutes", knowing full well you're going to drift back off to sleep. Anyway, I missed my 9 o'clock lecture, which means it's up to me to figure out what the hell all them complex formulas are for.
Agent Orange 15-10-2003, 11:15 I get up straight away as I don't want to delay the inevitable. As hard as it is to get up in a morning, the hot shower that comes almost straight after getting up is always worth looking forward to.
Moon Maiden 15-10-2003, 11:19 I have children - they are my alarm whether I like their timing or not!
Moon
Classic Rock 15-10-2003, 11:36 I'm always stealing minutes. I set my alarm for 7.35am, then I reset it for about 8.15am, then again for 8.30, then if I'm not in a rush for 8.45am, then FORCE myself out of bed. Once up I wonder why I didn't just get my lazy ass out of bed in the first place and half the morning has gone, blah, blah, blah!
I use the alarm on my mobile. I once woke in the night and sent myself a text message to wake up! Don't know why, must have thought I was resetting the alarm.
