My little boy is 12 weeks old and for the last week or so he has been gnawing on his hand, dummy and his Mr Elephant! I know he isn't hungry because although he chews his hand then, he makes this certain expression with his mouth.

He has been sleeping fine but every so often over the last couple of days he bursts out crying - really sobbing as though something is really upsetting him.

Could he be teething? I can't see anything going on in his mouth but I can't think what else it would be.

I am not looking forward to jab day on Thursday. :(

Good luck with his jabs on thursday, i was wreck when both of mine had theres, im sure it hurts you for longer than it does them.

He has already had his first lot of jabs. I don't get upset about the jabs - it is holding his leg still whilst they do it and he is a kicker so if he is cross (like he has been) I will have a right job on!!!!

Two weeks! Blimey that is young :hihi:

Yes he could be, my husband was born with a tooth.

Our daughter has been doing the same thing for a few months now. We were really concerned about the sporadic screaming but it has calmed down a bit. She still chews on her fist as though she has never been fed though.

I think that he will get a hernia or something when he cries because he cries that hard he goes purple and nearly chokes!!! :( If he carries on by Thursday should I mention it to the health visitor?

Have you tried giving him something for colic ?

We have had to start rachel on infacol because the doctor said that it was trapped wind causing the screaming...... worth a try ?
