I thought this would be the most appropriate place to put this...
I really really passionatly want to do early years teaching or general primary school teaching at university...Thing is right, I need a bit of work experience in a nursery or at a kids club. I don't want paying or anything, just a reference at the end! I'm really enthusiastic about it too so won't let anyone down.
I'm inbetween years 12 and 13 at the moment.

On my old screen name here, I helped someone out on an open day at a nursery about a year ago, and since I was about 11 I have been going into school with my mum (who is a teaching assistant in a reception class) helping out for a few days here and there.

So basically, I would just like to know if anyone on here or if you know anyone who would be willing to let me come and help out for a week or so over this summer.
I know all about the checks, and the rules and the other things but I would really really appreciate some help!

I hope you didn't mind me posting :)
Sammie x

I didn't think I could help, but actually, if you're over 16 you could probably volunteer with Sheffield Wildlife Trust. They do masses of education work, and have funding for summer playschemes/environmental education sessions. Plus they're really nice people.

Ring 2634335 and ask to speak to Claire about volunteering.

I have something you can volunteer for. I am part of the managing team for a summer performing arts school which begins on 28th July and runs for 3 seperate but consecutive weeks in HIllsborough.
I teach drama but we also have dance, music and art.
Look at www.hillsboroughyoungperformers.org.uk and then pm me if you fancy helping out :)

I can act as a referee for young Innocence as I was her English teacher. She is an intelligent, responsible and caring young lady with alot of heart and I feel that she will make a wonderful Primary teacher.

Good luck Kiddo x

I need someone to help at Jellys...I'm far too full of baby to be very useful, and the guilt is getting to me. :P

Innocence, I can remember I felt the same way as you at your age but I was not confident enough about going to university so I never realised my dream. Keep going and make sure you get where you want to go. You will regret it if not.

Good luck !!

It would be nice to see you at Jelly's one day too.

Hey, well it looks like I will be seeing some of you via Jellys!
Thankyou so so much for all your help and things! I am also hoping it will give me a huge confidence boost as I am still a little shy around people I don't know well!!

Why not try asking at somewhere like surestart, they have loads of volunteers there afaik, there is always some group or another going on I'm sure they would appreciate a little help in certain areas.

You could try the children's hospital? It's not exactly what you're looking for but you may be able to do something teaching related, such as reading to children or helping with art/craft sessions?

Good luck with getting some experience - I'm trying to get voluntary work too at the moment as I'm training to be a psychologist.

Hi,
I used to work at a Kids Club and we were always welcome to take volunteers, which sometimes resulted in part time jobs at the end of their voluntary work. Why not ring up a few nursery's or kids clubs in your area and see if they need anyone?
