I have just received an email from someone who says he has 10 emails wrongly directed to him instead of me.
When I tried to open the attachment hotmail said something about a incurable virus ? worm sober.
I have had the sense to go no further, Thought I'd ask advice of the forum.

You did the right thing.
Delete them all and read this (http://www.theregister.co.uk/2005/04/19/sober_worm_panic/) .
I guess we all may get one or two over the next day or so.
That'd be someone you don't know. It's called spam, it carries virii. You should NEVER open attachments from unknown sources.
Thanks both of you for the info, I've just read the write up and feel I 've had a lucky escape. The email was exactly as described, even to me noticing he was German.
Thanks again

this is just what you get for using hotmail. Popular with spammers, however it is fantastic for attatchments as it virus checks them for you before you can do anything else. One note that i think i should mention also is that if it detects a virus, then that attatchment will be unaccessable, not sure if this is the case when using outlook though.
