can anyone check out this URL, its a test webcam of my back garden, wanting to set up a webcam in Dove and Rainbow and cant seem to get it right...the page just refreshes all the time and the video does not seem to be streaming properly.....any experts on webcams who can tell me what I need to do just to make it stream properly and not reloading the page all the time....its on the default settings for the software YAWCAM but I cant see how to change anything to make it produce a nice smooth webcam image.....the software created a default public page which I can edit, hence the Dove and Rainbow stuff, should I just move the page refresh code or will that just make the image show a static picture...

my home PC is running as a web server its streaming direct from there so is this the problem?

it seems to be taking JPG images and just loading them into the webpage every 10 seconds rather than motion video......how can I sort this its a TRUSTCAM LIVE webcam from maplin.......

How have you done this / what have you used? The website source just seems to be showing a single jpg image rather than streaming a video?

If it's just a USB webcam then yes, it'll probably just ftp an image every X seconds, & effectively anyone visiting the site will just see a static picture (cut the lawn!). You may be able to use some javascript or something to automatically refresh the page every few seconds? I've done a similar thing before with a USB cam & the best I could get was one frame every ~3 seconds. Not sure about the javascript thing as I'm not a code-monkey & it was a while ago, but I think that's what I googled up...

If you want a proper moving webcam the easiest way is to use a network camera. This'll just plug into your home network (or work over wi-fi) & the result will be a generally pretty decent moving image (assuming you've got decent upload speed, 1/4 Mb may not cut it). Check out some of them here (http://www.ebuyer.com/search/?sortfilter=ascend&qfind=network+camera&limit=10&page=1) (ignore the first result & the printer). The Axis ones are very nice, you can do all the remote access, webpage embedding stuff etc nice & easy from what I understand. I've got one of the £57.99 Hawking ones it's a bit basic, you may not be able to embed the output into a publically available webpage as easy as the others.

If you want to see what the Axis ones give you, check out one of the many googlable Axis cams here (http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&q=inurl%3Aview%2Findex.shtml&btnG=Google+Search&meta=) (will need Java, may need Firefox).

Thanks for the advice. I will check out the network ones, we have 8mb download at the Dove so should be plenty of up speed. WIll leave this USB one on my home PC as it might be fun.....dont want to cut the lawn it adds to the Jungle look!!!!!
