Inspired by another thread, what meals do you use baked beans for? Except of course for the traditional beans on toast i've seen them in curry and a chilli con carni. Where else have you seen beans used?

I used to do a veggie roast which consisted of mashed baked beans in their sauce, together with coarsely crumbled bread. Cheese, herbs and fried onions are then stirred in. An egg or a bit of milk can be added if the mix is too stiff.

Then roast in a loaf tin with a brush of oil over the top at 180 degrees C for about an hour. Dead nice.

I do a sausage and bean casserole

My sister makes a mean bean, cheese and mashed potato flan.

last time i made lasangia I added rinsed beans to pad the mince out a bit

I've used it is lasagne, and cottage/shepards pie

Chilli con carne, and the work canteen gave me this idea......... brown some sausages then put them into an oven proof dish, pour some baked beans over them then top with mashed potato. In the oven for about 20 minutes. Gorgeous.

We used to have them on pizza's instead of tomato sauce/puree. Very nice, but very gooey pizza.

I put them in sheperds/cottage pie, with cheese on the top, yum yum and also in chilli.

Just thought of another one, cowboy hotpot, which is red pepper, onion, baked beans, carrot, sweetcorn, green beans and cheese topped with a layer of potato.

Ooh, SueH has just reminded me that as kids we used to have cheese toasties or as an alternative, baked bean toasties !! they are gorgeous but the juice gets very very hot !
