Gatecrasher on a Friday is a shocker of a night. It is basically an under 18's night and I hope the police rumble them.

Me, its absolutly buzzin in there- i love it- 15 red stripes and im away all night!!!

Never been, was in a big que once.... would like to go someday.

thanks scott for the POSITIVE reply. its not full of underage ppl i no so many that go on a friday and none of them are under 18. The queues are so big cos its so popular and if there wasnt a dress code they'd be letting any old scum chavs in, and to be honest i feel a lot safer knowing that they r careful who they let in, unlike some places i could name. GATECRASHER 1 is the place 2 be on a friday night if u have a good taste in music and good style!!

In the nicest way possible, I suggest you leave this thread alone now. Otherwise you will end up getting a lot of abuse from people who have been going clubbing for years and don't appreciate being told where the best place to go is on any given night.

I do remember going to Republic on a Friday back in my first year (I was 21). Even at that young age I felt uncomfortably old in there. I don't know what it's like now, but I still would prefer to be somewhere that doesn't have such a young average age. Plus, even at 21 I had formed a musical taste that didn't involve the same cheesy/pop crap that was being churned out at every student night in the country.

wat a **** place................... the djs are crap for starters.... lee smith or sommit..... he cant mix for his life.....

the bouncers...are just a joke....... if they dont like the luck of you...... or you dont look like a student..... they will just say "not 2 night"

with the age thing... it is kinda all under18' ....... when i was 16 i use 2 go there no problems...... now iam 20 they try 2 id me.... or say not 2 night......jokers....

I Love Republic (Gatecrasher) on a friday night, altho it is expensive, so i tend 2 hav a few drinks somewhere else first! its great for dancing and having a good time, also ur bound 2 bump into someone you know (if ur from sheffield)
I dont really like Kingdom or leadmill because of the decoration inside, Gatecrasher is cool and funky.

Only time I go is for Hed Kandi with the gf and some mates. I'll be off to see Armand Van Helden v DJ Sneak next week as well - apart from that wouldn't go near the place - music policy is crap and the crowd aren't much better.

I used to think Reppo was the mutts nuts ,used to go every friday for a good while ,then i turned 18. I went every week for about year because i was underage and thought it sooo cool to be in a nightclub when i wasnt ment to be in there.The refurb brought in the high prices and dress code ,once not aloud in as i had trainers on ,then i stood there and watched as they let in kids with trainers on ,nobs.

Its full of fashion vitims ,with there diesel t-shirts mullet hair cuts suit jackets on with sweatbands or daft coloured bands on.It was underage when i went and my friends who went on friday (1st time in over a year)said it was still fairly bad for it.

So in the short cons *over priced
*Full of underage fashion victims
*Way too busy for my taste
*Music isnt my type (r'n'b isnt people like usher ect ,listen to 60's r n b for the real deal)
*Poor doorstaff
*15 mins to get served at the bar ,unless you have your tits hangin out

Pros* Fit birds.......thats the only plus going for it

We went last night. My brother and his mate got turned away. It was me brothers mates 18th birthday. The bouncer (one with the long hair) wouldnt give a reason. The other bouncer said he couldnt see a problem with letting them in but the one that turned em away said no again and walked off.

They had ID and we had all split up earlier in the night and there were just two of them. There wernt drunk either and had plenty of money to spend in the club and there was no queue it was half 10. He just said not tonight lads. They just seem to pick on a few lads to show off to all the underage girls.

Going to try and ring them to complain. I wont be going there again. We got some free tickets and stuff last time this kinda thing happened at leadmill so its worth a shot.

Think you're referring to Ian (with the dark hair) - he's not a bouncer (or doorman) but is there to provide some control on the people that are let into the club. I'd much prefer going to a club with a relatively strict door policy rather than one without.

The only way a club could manage to filter out scally beers boys without a dress policy would be by raising the prices. You would still complain if they raised the prices.

Its one thing kicking out trouble causes, chav's and asking for id but randomly pickin out people and not giving them a reason is just not on. Someone from Gatecrasher phoned and appologiesed about what happened and said to contact him again if we had anymore trouble from the doorstaff. He said the doorstaff should always give a reason and i thought it was gd of him to get back in touch.

Not really, i tend to go out for the music whenever i do. Only tend to have a couple of beers. No, i don't take pills before someone suggests that.

Well you may well do that but there will be over 1000 other people in the club who may not. Why don't you open your own private club just for you with a four pack of beers and music of your choice? You can wear what you want.

I tend to go to smaller venues, so finding enough similarly minded people to fill the place is less of an issue, as they are the kind of places other people also go to listen to the music as opposed to the club simply being a venue for the sale of more alcohol.

For your information, i am not a scally, nor do i dress like one. I don't know if that is what the second half of your post is suggesting.

You've gotta love Fridays, Tom Wainwright in the electric box.

It used to be a great night. I DJed there until last year, it was always a good atmosphere, although it seemed to lose some of its fun when the venue was re-furbished.

I'm sure Tom Wainwright is now good in the 3rd room, he's an excellent DJ.

I assure you that as an ex-member of staff people with their tits out do not get served first by me - probably because I'm female!!! You have to appreciate though that the club has gone downhill lately and staff turnover is very high, therefore lots of staff who haven't a clue!! I regularly worked with only one other member of staff on a friday night and, although there was the odd drunken complaint about the waiting times, the bar can easily be cleared by asking one person for ID - at which point the whole bar clears as the poor kids poo their little panties at being caught!!!

Reply to last message, the dress code at Gatecrasher is about the indvidual person on how they carrry and present themselves when coming to Gatecrasher One.

If the door staff can see that they have made an effort in their own way or style then that is acceptable the only thing which they are not looking for is people who have not made an effort, age, drunkness, chavs, traceys, kevins and most importantly attitude.

Sometimes the decision may be wrong but its a hard position to be in when deciding who is right and who wrong for the club I wouldn't want to do it.

The door staff are only human regards to the info supplied that's what I have been told so lets give it up for Gatecrasher One don't you just love it.

That door policy is why i ****ing hate the club.Why shouldnt you be let in to a club because a meat head thinks that " you have not made the effort " ? So by saying that by your words if a goth went to the club ,made the effort if there own "style" wasnt ****** and was above legal age to enter they'd be aloud in ? I think not.
Ive been to that club ,extremely ****** and got in ,ive been to that club and made no effort what so ever and got in ,ive been to that club sober and not got in ive been to the club and dressed to impress and not got in.
Ill leave that place to the young ungerage losers who'll grow tired of that club just like me(im not saying i was a loser but when i was underage it was great because i was dfoing something i wasnt ment to be doing)

I heard the policy only applies at the weekend it is open dresscode to a degree on a Monday through to Thursday so I heard. So I suppose a goth would get in on a Mon to Thurs.

Still a great club I love it!!!

I like it on a Friday, or at least used to. It might be just me but everyone is getting younger in there (i'm only 23!).

On a saturday its better, its got less chavs in it. I think kingdom must have had a clear out at some point!

I'm going to liquid in rotherham tomorrow, mainly due to the demise of any sort of decent club in sheffield!

Been watching this post for a while with interest, never had any problem getting in gatecrasher although some have of my mates have been turned away before. That is until last night. After waiting to get in up for a ridcously long time I was pulled out of the que just before I paid and told that I couldn't get in in trainers, this was despite the fact that they were black and smartish, and all my mates who were with me had white trainers on and got in no trouble. Needless to say it ruined my night, and for no reason that I can ascertain. However, it did force me to go to Urban Gorilla instead- and that was a quality nite.
still, the bouncers in gatecrasher are on a major power trip and i certainly wont be visitng that club again
