View Full Version : Hurrah, I’m back!
Somewhere in the ether there’s a long thread saying where I’ve been for the past three years. I used to be a regular poster, but then suddenly vanished without trace until a fellow journalist did the almost impossible and found me!
My first post tonight, after three desolate years, completed only minutes ago, has disappeared! I did something wrong so I’m starting again with a shorter version.
Briefly, thanks a million to those who thought I was worth finding, and to those who joined in the search to find me. I’m even going to thank those who viewed the BBCs Crimewatch on a regular basis, looking without success at all the e-fits and hoping there might be a reward on my head.
I’m returning, but spending less time on the forum and choosing my subjects more carefully.
Finally, to the female forumer who wrote to me. There was a while during which my fingers were not up to replying, but you were nevertheless in my thoughts because apart from sharing our love of the forum we are also more or less in the same invalidity boat.
Anyway, PM me today and I’ll reply tomorrow. Lots to say. I’m overjoyed at having Broadband despite BT wanting £1300 to provide it for me.
Thanks also for asking the forum gurus to keep my name on their list. No trouble logging on, but I touched something I shouldn’t and my original posting disappeared. The trials and tribulations of an old man!
Awww nice to see you back and hope you are well. I remember reading the thread about you going missing but glad you have returned to the fold.

Snap!
May I introduce myself? I am me. Seconds after I was made the mould was purposely broken. I knew at the ripe old age of one year that I was destined to become a Sheffield Forumer.
Bear in mind that having been born in 1929, knowing my destiny was something that intellectuals were able to discuss, and to reach questionable conclusions until 1984 when computerisation was THE WORD.
Who among those intellectuals would ever have thought that my birth and the start of the computer age would change the world?
A few intellectuals even then could not understand it. Some took their own lives and one in particular left my grandfather without so much as a penny. His very substantial business crashed, and all because one intellectual jumped from a 14-storey window and landed on his fruit and veg cart.
I do hope that from this short CV you will have gathered that I am a complete idiot. A Lancashire hospital didn’t want the responsibility of keeping such a renowned idiot, so I was shunted into a care home. I don’t care, they don’t care — but at least a few forumers cared enough to rescue me!
