A mate of mine uploaded a short video of him hand rearing an orphaned bat, the pictures was quite clear this afternoon, but as time has gone on the pictures have become more fuzzy and pixcelated. Any ideas why this has happened? Is it just because there are more users on in the evening?

I had a look at the video, it streamed to my p.c ok and the sound was good. It may be possible that utube increase the compression on videos when there is high demand but this is currently showing 87 view so not massive. Try it in the morning see what its like then.
Thanks sixriver, will give it a whirl in the morning.

Hmm, just had a look at the vid, the sound is ok, but as the op says, the quality of the picture was, in fact so poor, I could hardly tell what the vid was all about.?
Sorry, but I acant offer any techie help on the problem though, just to say at 9:54 am, Friday 11th July, the video quality was still quite poor.

If you compare the URL originally posted with the one I posted you'll notice I've appended &fmt=18 to it.
This asks youtube to display the highest available quality for the video being viewed.
