Hi,

My boyfriend is attending a PGCE interview and needs to know about the national curriculum for science key stages 3/4, does any one know where we can find this information? We have been on a couple of sites that are just so complicated and seem to not deliver the relevant info. If anyone could help with this, it would be really appreciated. Thanks!

Have you tried BBC education pages - they have loads of info on learning in schools, revision etc - might find what you want there www.bbc.co.uk/schools/

Click on the green teachers section for key stage info!!

www.dfes.gov.uk

or the teachernet, AQA websites should provide the information.

This information should have already been provided to your boyfriend by his mentor.

Save your boyfriend before it's too late. Talk him out of this PGCE folly. Is he young? He'd be much better buying a very cheap house, doing it up (a monkey could do this) and selling it on for a vast profit. He'll be a millionaire in ten years. If he insists on being a teacher, tell him to go for primary speshul - it's much nicer than futile missionary work in comps. Honest.

I agree with my noble Lord - unless you are insane - don't do it - I've done it for six years and just read some of the **** I post.
Thanks Snooty for pointing out the foolishness of my past decisions.:(

There are too many young kids fast-tracking into teaching at the minute and it just doesn't work. They don't get the respect from the kids and have absolutely no life experience to relate to them.

He could try

http://www.ncaction.org.uk/

or

http://www.qca.org.uk/index.html

Both have info about the curriculum so should be useful.

thanks everyone for your replies and comments..I dont think Ill tell him about the negatives, as his interview is tomorrow! All joking aside tho - is it really as bad as you make out? He has also been offered a place on a MSC programme in forensic science (as that was his degree) and is in a quandry as to what to choose..so maybe being uncertain, is answering the question...thanks again guys!
