Anyone experienced difficulties with this company?
I'm normally fairly easy going and laid back about most things and it takes a fair bit to lose my rag, but this lots amateurish service have really wound me up.
After cashing my 20% deposit it took a further 6 weeks before they could even confirm a date to start work.
The Surveyor being one of the most patronising people I've ever had the misfortune of dealing with.
Turning up 2 hours late to start the work.
Providing the wrong sized skirting boards to the one they took off (all part of the quote).
Drilling through my wall and in to the neighbours living room.
And I'm still not convinced they've solved the damp problem.
I've just had them on the phone requesting payment and when I implied I was less than happy with there service, the surveyor (who according to his secretary only picks his e-mails up every 3 weeks hence the delay in providing a start date) said he was refering me to their debt collection service and then hung up.
Is there any point in withholding payment and try and take things further or should I just pay up and chalk it up as a bad experience?

Has the job now been completed to your (and your unfortunate neighbours) satisfaction? If so, pay up and look happy. Otherwise, send them a letter stating that if the work is not completed withn 14 days then you will be refering the matter to your solicitor.

ditto the above - advise of what needs rectifying. You have to give them the opportunity to rectify things,if you are comfortable with that.

The skirting board issue still hasn't been rectified I've kept the old skirting board with a view to tidying it up and putting it back on. And when I told the surveyor the wall was still letting damp through the surveyor said it could take up to 18 months before it dried out properly and the contract was for them to install a damp proof course and that was what I owed them for.
Not sure I want these people back inmy house to be honest.

I can understand you not wantng them back in, but the situation has to be resolved one way or another. Basically the job has not been finished to your satisfaction and you need to tell them so, in writing.
I have met the person you are referring to on a couple of occasions and I have to agree that he is not the most endearing of people. He talks the talk and everyone else is an imbecile. I am not convinced by some of their products either, but that is only my opinion. That being said, presumably they have provided some kind of warranty on the work, so, if in the future you should wish to claim against this warranty then issues need to be resolved now.
If you think the work is totally unsuitable, then it may be worth getting an expert second opinion, possibly trading standards may point you in the rght direction.

I forgot to mention they also neglected to treat part of the chimneybreast behind the cooker.
I've taken your advice and will post the letter first thing in the morning explaining I'm not satisfied with there work and that they've not carried out the work that was agreed in the original quote.
As for the warranty what I was originally told by the surveyor "all our product have full guarantee". To what appears on the quote "An independent insurance-backed guaruntee/warranty is available on selected installations at an additional cost of 5% plus VAT of contract price subject to eligibility and a minimum charge of £40.00 plus VAT. Such document is normally issued approximately 30 to 40 days after receipt of payment in full".
Now is it just me or does that seem to give them a bit of a get out clause?
Well if nothing else looks like I've learnt a lesson in reading the fine print.

I think they've got a damn cheek asking you to pay to underwrite their work. Still, you live and learn. Anyone with an ounce of decency would guarantee their own workmanship at the very least.
