I am wanting to know daft things like does it hurt when having it done and I know they put anasthetic in your eyes but do you blink or does the eye drops stop this happening as I dont want my eye browe sinched :hihi:. you have drops in your eye to numb it. however, they use a clamp thingie to hold the eye open.

you need to look carefully into it, as your prescription needs to be stable for a given amount of time before they do the op.

secondly, you can have problems with "starry" and blurry vision especially at night after this kind of surgery.

you need to look very closely at the pro's and the con's of having it done.

it doesn't mean that you will automatically have 20-20 vision, not that you will never need glasses again after having it done. you will still probably need reading glasses etc, as you age, and your eyesight naturally deteriorates over age.

Thanks for that and to stagewalker for re-opening the thread.

I wouldn't be worrying about how much it hurts - I'd be worrying that it's still very new and no one really knows the long term effects of it. In addition, both people I know who have had it done on recommendations of doctors whose prescription had been stable for 10+ years, now both need glasses again due to deteriorating vision, they are both between 30 and 40 yrs old. I would be very wary of it myself, I don't think it's worth the risks given the unknowns.

Also, something else to consider if you're youngish is that certain companies stipulate that you cannot have had laser eye treatment for certain jobs. Some safety-critical roles allow for glasses but not for people who have had laser eye correction. I belive train driving is one, and possibly airline pilots but dont quote me on that.

my mum had it done, she was very short sighted and can now see without glasses however she does still require reading glasses and was told that eventually she will need actual glasses again.

She said it was not so much painful just uncomfortable and for a few weeks after her eyes felt very gritty and she needed drops constantly.
