View Full Version : Did anyone else cry when watching Max's funeral on Hollyoaks last night? Treacle26 10-07-2008, 14:02 Did anyone else shed a tear (or 20) when watching Hollyoaks last night. My cousin walked in and told me I was pathetic for cryin and then was crying herself 2 minutes later!! :( sheff_minx 10-07-2008, 14:39 I was bawling my eyes out from start to finish!!!! Ousetunes 10-07-2008, 14:44 I cried 'Why can't they put this crap on CBeebies along with the other kiddies stuff?' NEKRO138 10-07-2008, 14:47 I didn't see it, but I can imagine it could have induced vomiting more than crying. purple_frog 10-07-2008, 14:49 I completely broke down.....thank god there was no-one around to see me! pennypie 10-07-2008, 15:03 Its on normal tv tonight isn't it!! I am going to have to watch it tomorrow when I am on my own, because I will be a blubbering wreck. I was crying my eyes out when he dies, and I cannot watch funerals at the best of times - but since I went to one in January I start blubbering as soon as they are mentioned. I'm SUCH a loser! While I am at it, I might watch Beaches afterwards, and then My Girl. Just spend my whole last day off work crying!! Sounds appropriate to me. On Monday the issue is rape. On Tuesday it's bullying. On Wednesday it's drugs. On Thursday it's getting pregnant, aged 9 and on Friday it's sexual ambiguity. Each lesson ended with a phone number you can contact. Like I say, it's on the wrong channel at the wrong time. Either put it on CBeebies where its target audience will see (and let's not forget, learn) from it, or put it on at 3 in the morning. Junk TV for a 'Hello' generation. Rich 10-07-2008, 15:07  I hate to be blunt, but get a life girls! He's NOT REALLY DEAD, HE'S JUST ACTING! :loopy: Oh and Hollyoaks sucks, the only good thing to come out of it was Gaz off Two Pints of Lager (Will Mellor) purple_frog 10-07-2008, 15:59 No no no no no Rich! I'm not a fan of Will Mellor at all, but have you seen whatShizface the Copper bloke on it at the mo? Who goes out with Carmel? Swoon! Strangely, it seems Hollyoaks is more popular now than it ever has been with my age-group, mid 20s...i can only assume we're all stressed and need a chance to swtich off our brains now and then...! pennypie 10-07-2008, 16:04 No no no no no Rich! He is LOVELY!!! He is really with Steph in real life too - humph. I agree with you about the popularity thing in the mid 20's, all my friends watch it and we are all aged between 25 - 28ish. It started when we were young though so suppose we were the target audience when it first started, and we have just not stopped watching it. nick2 10-07-2008, 16:09 Strangely, it seems Hollyoaks is more popular now than it ever has been with my age-group, mid 20s...i can only assume we're all stressed and need a chance to swtich off our brains now and then...! or unable to concentrate for more than 10 minutes Clare85 10-07-2008, 16:34 I find Tom quite annoying. I couldn't look after him! pennypie 10-07-2008, 16:49 I find Tom quite annoying. I couldn't look after him! Tom is the most adorable kid on tv. I would look after him any day!! I've watched it from day 1 and don't think I'll ever stop even though some of the story lines are crazy. As for Max's funeral, I'm crying as I type. So sad :( beddoe79 10-07-2008, 18:34 I've watched it from day 1 too which I think is kinda why the funeral today made me cry so much. I was ok until I saw Tom, OB and other men crying. jen13kd 10-07-2008, 18:40 i had a lump in my throat. the thing is with soaps when you cry its not usually because you're crying for the dead character as you know its not 'real' more that it reminds you of experiences from your own life. whenever I see a funeral in a soap, it just reminds me of when my grandad passed away and thats whay I feel sad and get teary! chem1st 10-07-2008, 18:42 or unable to concentrate for more than 10 minutes I can definately say there is something in common with the people i know whom watch it, but I couldn't put my finger on it. wondertec 10-07-2008, 19:09 I shed a tear. Or ten! Tess 10-07-2008, 19:40 I cried like a baby then when the phone rang denied it of all costs!! And just watched tomorrows as well, watch out for a last minute appearance from a certain someone - will set you off all over again!! Tell you what though, the Sugababes bit firstly made me cringe but even that managed to reduce me to tears, (for all the right reasons!) Zimily 10-07-2008, 20:22 Yeah I watched tomorrows too. There was two bits that set me off, the last bit you speak of Tess and the bit where Steph and Tom are sat on the bench. Oh and the ending titles were a nice tribute to Max and OB. God I'm filling up again and it't not even on. Think I need to get out more :hihi: pennypie 10-07-2008, 20:45 Yeah I watched tomorrows too. God I'm filling up again and it't not even on. Think I need to get out more :hihi: I think I know what you are talking about. I was reading some spoilers on another site and there was a picture and even that reduced me to tears - before he had even died!! Haha! beddoe79 10-07-2008, 20:45 I'm not looking forward to tomorrows then. Can't be doing with all this crying lol pennypie 10-07-2008, 20:46 I actually think I will cry as much for max as I did for Flynn when he died on Home and Away!! :hihi: Bladesman 10-07-2008, 20:54 I did abit. :( weenireeni 10-07-2008, 21:07 i made my boyfriend sit and cuddle me tonight whilst watching, cos i knew i'd be a state. on the plus side my mascara is def waterproof!! stephs singing was great, i was the same as darren and went 'oh god' but then when she sang it so beautifully and the words struck a chord. well, it was just so sad! :( ive also watched it from day 1. so sad to see max go, i always fancied him as he was such a nice bloke! does any body know why he has left the show? dont wanna search in case i find spoilers! Swan_Vesta 10-07-2008, 22:10 Even though my missus subjects me to this crap I had no idea that people took soap opera this seriously. Ladies, ladies, ladies ......... It's a story - Make believe in other words. The bloke who wrote Grange sodding Hill came up with this tripe; In fact isn't the present storyline involving smack addicted kids the exact one which was featured 20 years ago with Zamo? neeeeeeeeeek 10-07-2008, 22:13  I hate to be blunt, but get a life girls! He's NOT REALLY DEAD, HE'S JUST ACTING! :loopy: Oh and Hollyoaks sucks, the only good thing to come out of it was Gaz off Two Pints of Lager (Will Mellor) And that's from someone who has an unhealthy obsession with neighbours! I won't even mention Jason and his stupid bloody jacket or failed celebrity on ice. :|: Zimily 10-07-2008, 22:34 i made my boyfriend sit and cuddle me tonight whilst watching, cos i knew i'd be a state. on the plus side my mascara is def waterproof!! stephs singing was great, i was the same as darren and went 'oh god' but then when she sang it so beautifully and the words struck a chord. well, it was just so sad! :( ive also watched it from day 1. so sad to see max go, i always fancied him as he was such a nice bloke! does any body know why he has left the show? dont wanna search in case i find spoilers! He was on E4 the other week and he said that he is going back to Hollyoaks to be a director. Maybe he just wanted a change. He then also said that he and OB (sorry don't know his real name) may be looking into presenting...although I don't know if that was a joke. Tess 11-07-2008, 10:23 Yeah I watched tomorrows too. BasilRathbon 11-07-2008, 10:49 People often mock Hollyoaks, but I see it as a modern incarnation of medieval morality plays and many of its storylines have their roots in classical literature, as well as drawing on the "moral of the story" principles of such ancient texts as Aesop's Fables and even the Bible itself. Oh and it's got pretty young girls in it who get their boobs out in lads mags. What more could you want? pennypie 11-07-2008, 11:12 Oh my!! I hope no-one turns up now as they are going to get a very red eyed Pennypie!!!! I actually sobbed at that from start to finish, I miss Max!! Bring him back!!! (even though that would be a little bit too Eastenderish!) I lurve him. :D slimsid2000 11-07-2008, 15:22 Is it true you have to be clinically ugly before you can be cast in Hollyoaks? Some Equity rule or other. You need a doctor's note confirming you as ugly. Glamrock 11-07-2008, 15:50  I hate to be blunt, but get a life girls!
