sugar plum 10-07-2008, 01:03 AM can they or is it just mine ?
for the past couple of weeks now my cat federico has been gettin me up bang on 3 am every mornin to be let out. Its beginning to freak me out . How does federico do it ? can anyone please explain ?:confused:
mojo1 10-07-2008, 01:07 AM Billy knows when it's 5pm as thts dinner time, in the morning food arrives when I get up but at 5pm he starts to really harrass me.
Strix 10-07-2008, 01:09 AM Brude's a beagle but it took me ages to figure out why he was getting so stroppy at me at 3pm one day
we were in cambridge. If we started packing up at 3, drove back to Sheffield, had his dinner, we'd be just in time to get to his training class on time
now you know where the inspiration for snoopy watches came from
sugar plum 10-07-2008, 01:10 AM Oh federico is terrible at that i work shifts so sometimes im up at 5 in the mornin so he gets fed then but then he expects it all the time x
sugar plum 10-07-2008, 01:11 AM Ha ha dont u just love em :love:
katkin 10-07-2008, 11:30 AM Had this thread before- cats like to 'hunt' around 4am so it's quite common for them to be up and about being noisy/playful anytime between 3-5am
jasmine500 10-07-2008, 12:08 PM Mine knows the time for sure - she knows meal times inside out and circles the food area when she reckons it's time for me to be dishing her snap up! It's like watching a lion in the wild!
misschick 10-07-2008, 01:28 PM Dakota Belle starts asking for her tea at about 6.45 every night; she knows its tea time at 7. And each time she asks it gets louder until the food bowl touches the floor!
laurajill 10-07-2008, 02:33 PM My cats know when I'm coming home. They sit at the bottom of my road and run down to meet me when they see/hear me!
katkin 10-07-2008, 02:51 PM Mine know when it's 10 to 6 (pm) and they and the dobermutt make a point of reminding me if it's even a minute past feeding time. Arnie comes to wake me up every morning at an unearthly hour he thinks I should be getting up to feed him and his furry friends. Ailsa takes herself off to bed at 10:25pm and then (if I don't drag her back downstairs to go out for a wee BEFORE she goes to sleep) gets up at 1:35am because she wants to go out to do what dogs do...cow that she is- she couldnt possibly hold it until morning or go out before bedtime, especially if it's raining.
The dobermutt also knows when we've set off from work and she is downstairs waiting when we get home- she is very quiet during the day but we've had reports from a neighbour that for a few seconds approx 15 mins before we arrive, she cries - and we don't come home at a regualar times every night, so how she knows exactly when we've set off, we've no idea.
wondertec 10-07-2008, 04:48 PM My cats know when it gets to 4pm, that's teatime and they also seem to appear at that time.
My dads cat knows the sound of his car and when you pull you, she's sat waiting for him!
teeny 10-07-2008, 07:17 PM Our cats know when its teatime and so do my dogs. They used to know when i was due home but now each day is different so they are confused lol
Well, George certainly knows when it's coming up to 5pm and time for his belly to be filled!
He starts demanding food about quarter to usually and then the dogs join in (I think they're too stupid to work it out for themselves!)
Strangely enough, after about a week, he even manages to adjust his timing to suit when the clocks go backwards or forwards!!
At the moment, he's sitting on the back of the sofa glaring at me and indulging in the occasional squawk because I've been out this afternoon and (sin of sins!) haven't mustered up the energy to feed them yet. :hihi:
jellybellybean 11-07-2008, 09:22 PM Ruby's recently been standing at the door to the bottom of the stairs crying her little eyes out and scratchin like a loony and pullin the carpet up at around 4:30am every morning for the past few weeks now! I thought it was because the sun was coming up around this time. It's a nightmare because it wakes me up and Ive been giving in to her and lettin her upstairs just so I can get some sleep!
SallyLaLaLa 12-07-2008, 10:19 AM My cats know when I'm coming home. They sit at the bottom of my road and run down to meet me when they see/hear me!
Mine do too. I wish I could teach my youngest kitty to tell the time but she just gets up when the sun comes up at the moment. She sits on our heads and purrs. It's a lovely way to wake up but I wish it wasn't at 4.30am. Roll on shorter nights!
vikki 12-07-2008, 12:59 PM i know they arent cats but my dogs can. i feed them at 6 and it gets to about 10 to and they are both at the side of you waitng then as soon as you stand up and head for the kitchen they both get excited and run a riot until they have their tea.
