I lived in Victoria Hall for one whole academic year in 2003/2004, and then for a further two months last summer, and I liked it. The central location is great, and you get all three Sky Sports channels free. It is said that Devonshire Green is a "bad area", but I never thought this myself. The local area is busy, and I always enjoyed walking back from the Odeon at 10:30pm at the weekend, and making my way through the hordes of smiley, tipsy people. The only warning I would give is for noise. If the firefighter games are in term-time, Victoria Hall can often be quite noisy, as it does host lots of first-year students.

As an unrelated aside, I met my new girlfriend when we were both living in Victoria Hall. :D

It's as good as next door to The Devonshire Cat - how can that be a bad thing?

Tony, is this becoming more of a problemo?

[QUOTE=bigflesh] Devonshire green often plays host to city events and the skate park with its half pipes and ramps is a popular venue with skate enthusiasts. QUOTE] and alcoholics! i dont think there is a half pipe either?

i've noticed this too... since the change over. can you not lock them down after say 2 years so that they are read only?

Victoria Hall. I stayed there last academic year and I would NEVER EVER go back. Although, if you're staying for just a few days, you may be spared the blinding incompetence of the management... give a few people a job title and they totally power trip out and forget all manners. The majority of them (Alison and 2 of the caertakers aside) are completely useless and downright rude on a good day. Enough said.
The accommodation itself is decent enough, but best of luck getting your deposit back. And don't even think about bringing a car- their parking policy is completely arbitrary and devoid of any kind of forward thinking.

Made some great friends though.

Is Victoria Hall students only or open to all?
