Does anyone on the forum live there and if so what's it like?
Do you own or rent a flat and how often do they come up for sale and at what price.
I'm looking for a flat on an upper level (ideally a penthouse) and was wondering how much one would cost in this deflated market.
PS. Not interested in Castle Court which I believe is managed by Northern Counties and has a lot of students living there.

That's right. It's part of the old Hyde Park flats.
Have you any idea of the mix of people living there? Is it mainly elderly or are there some younger people too?

Well my 2 aunties, well great aunties are in there late 70's/early 80's. On the floor they live on it's mostly older people, not sure if you have to be over a certain age to qualify for one?
But the flat it's self is great, quite spacious and the hallways etc are well maintained and clean

Thanks for the info.
I looked around a 2 bed maisonette about 7 or 8 years ago that was on the market for just under £70,000 and was amazed at how spacious it was but as it was near the bottom of the complex decided not to buy.
I would imagine most are still rented as they don't seem to come up for sale very often.

the red block (Castle Court) are Northern Counties Housing Association. The green block (Harold Lambert Court:- named after an alderman of the 1960's who was in charge of sheffield housing) were Sheffield Homes/ council, but I am not sure if they've been taken over by one of the "ALMO"s, like a lot of council housing.

I lived there for there for 8 years and I loved it. I never had any bother apart from the odd noisy neighbour and some littering. The security is excellent..I never had any contents insurance and I would often forget to lock my door when I went out ( yeah I know that was dumb). So easy to get into the city...bus, tram or walking and easy to stagger home late at night. Bit of a drug problem in the neighbourhood but I was never hassled or threatened. Generally nice people on the block and..at the time when I left..no kids. The actual flats are really nice as well.
Damn...I quite miss the old place. I left it last year but still go back to see friends.

I am not sure if it's strongly enforced now, but there were restrictions on it, if I remember correctly, that tenants were not permitted a property there, if they had children who were under about fifteen years of age.
