A mate has asked me if I can transfer a camcorder film onto a DVD for him, does anyone know how easy this is to do ?
I don't want to say I'll do it if I can't.
I've got a DVD writer and Nero etc, it's getting the film off the camcorder thats the problem I think.
if it's a modern (ie digital) camera, and you have a firewire port, then it should be very straight forwards.
If it's older or you don't have firewire, then you'll need some sort of capture card, or at a very minimum a video in port on your graphics card.
You'll also need some software. Most capture cards come with basic software, I think pinacle makes some. You might also find it on a magazine disk or be able to download a trial if you look around.
If all else fails, windows comes with something called 'windows movie maker' (xp only), it's not great, but it will do the job.
