bladesufc1 08-07-2008, 16:30 Brian Laws getting sponsership money together to go sky diving.
that's what i'm talking about a true dedicated manager spending every minutes of pre season getting his team together for the assualt on the religation battle
alex3659 08-07-2008, 17:29 preparing for the drop . :hihi::hihi:
NERVY-OWL 08-07-2008, 17:58 i'm sure he's got time for a bit of work for charity and really, some of you blades have problems. you start a thread about this, not even your team. i dont like saying it but you blades do love starting threads about the owls dont you.

Yes I know it's a little cruel, rather like the toffs of Victorian London paying to visit the poor unfortunates in Bedlam to giggle and poke them through the bars. :hihi:
Well done on your 1 point last season.
little_m 08-07-2008, 19:04 Well done on your 1 point last season.
Thank you. :hihi:

wednesday and charity seem to have a history together , tin shaking on fargate comes to mind , save our owls , thought it was a bird sanctury collection .
NERVY-OWL 08-07-2008, 20:46 whats that got to do with laws doing something for charity, i dont believe any of the raised money is going to wednesday. you start a thread about this when it isnt even your team:loopy: all this about the save our owls is long before my time so i dont really care but you blades accuse us owls of living in the past and thats all you go on about
alex3659 08-07-2008, 20:50 blades living in the past . what about the owls thread about a 29 year old video of boxing day ?.:gag:
bladebloke 08-07-2008, 21:39 all this about the save our owls is long before my time so i dont really care but you blades accuse us owls of living in the past and thats all you go on about
nothing wrong in living in the past and reminising. we blades talk fondly of our season in division 4. thats whats makes us this city's finest. us older ones have been to the bottom division and watched them back again. whilst you lot sing wendy till i die then sell 5,000 season tickets cos your still waiting for some one to bail you out again. scroungers.
wendy also like to live in the past but only go back as far as 79. like you say you dont care about save our owls. but think on young man if some of us (not me) older blades have had that attitude you might not have a wendy to care about at all. have you ever said thankyou. now be off with you young scamp.
chuffinel 08-07-2008, 21:59 You're thick aren't you?
Well, that brought the tone of the thread up didn't it ?
Can you try posting without insulting ?
(Expects a reply about it being an Owls thread, bla, bla, bla.) :(

F. Sidebottom 09-07-2008, 07:39 Well what a great thread by the blades.
"SWFC Pre Season Traing go well then "
Typical of what we've come to expect of that clown. It should be SWFC "Pre Season Training is going well then". Back to school for you numpty (if you ever went in the first place).
Then we have another one on here going on about Wednesday raking up the past with threads about Boxing Day videos. The thread was started by a Leeds fan over 2 years ago.
The we have the typical crap from blAidbloke about how the blAids saved Wednesday in the 70's. Do you honestly believe that crap? Dillusional!?!
It must be very quiet down the lane if all you can think to talk about is us - perhaps it will all change when you start to spend your £10m war chest.

so you saying wendy did'nt have collecting tins in the city centre. have thousands of stickers made with the "save our owls" logo. local press did'nt run a campaign to also save our owls. and many blades (not me) did not put cash into your begging bowls. then your the dillusional one pal.

No, I'm not saying that the Owls didn't have collections.
I've seen many collections for many teams at many grounds. Some direct (i.e. bucket collections for the club) some indirect (i.e. raffle tickets etc in the form of competitions) but all with the aim of generating money for the club from fans.
I'm sure a few blades did contribute to the collections in the 70's, just as I would contribute to the blades. Just as I do now when I buy blades raffle tickets from my father in law.
But the way you present it is that it was the blades and blades fans of Sheffield who saved the owls in the 70's, which is dillusional crap.
crookesey 09-07-2008, 13:03 At this time last year Utd were looking good for promotion (on paper) whilst Brian Laws had no idea of his starting eleven or even who would be staying. We lost our first six matches and eventually found some form until the injuries hit us, fortunately we finished fairly strongly. Utd were awful and only started to show some form after Robson's exit. I still find it very hard to believe that one man can turn good players into bad players and that one man can turn them back into good players again. Brian Clough once said that if he had to tell any of his players how to play that they wouldn't be his players for very long.
This season is much the same for Utd in that they have a strong squad and should (on paper) figure in the final reckoning. We are in far better shape than at this time last year, injuries excepted Brian Laws has a very good idea what his starting eleven will be and doesn't have any out of contract or short contract players to worry about. We are very unlikely to lose our first six matches and if we can keep the injuries to a minimum we are far more likely to be challenging for the play-offs than fending off relegation.

raffle for an easter egg is one thing frontbottom. begging to stay alive is another. you rattled your tins on fargate asking blades to help you survive. dress it up however you like us older ones know the truth. scroungers.

Well it's pretty sad that you have to revert to the 60's and 70's for an insult, but that's what we expect.
Overall, any raffle/competition is begging.
But once again you stick to the dillusional line of 'blades to help you survive'.
Did we campaign and collect outside the lane? I doubt it.
So we campaigned in the city centre for the people of Sheffield (not that I remember it). Nothing to do with the blades.
But, well, if that's the best you can come up with for 'banter'....

You mean like reverting to a certain 70's boxing day match that Owls cream their nappies over. Dolls head. :hihi:

jesus another one taking stupid tablets.
you say you campaigned to the people of sheffield and nothing to do with blades. so where do you think we live frontbottom. we are blades not man united we are the people of sheffield. then you say you cant remember it so why comment at all. i know its embarassing mate but it happened blades helped you stay alive just hang on to the little bit of dignity you have left and just say thankyou.

I'm thankful to anyone who contributed, although I don't remember it.
But once again you quote 'asking blades to help you survive.' which I think is crap.
You make it out like we came asking the blades specifically for money.
If a vicar contributed could he say 'Wednesday came to the church for help'.
If a nurse contributed could he say 'Wednesday came to the NHS for help'.
Of course not. We didn't seek out help from the blades, but I guess that doesn't suit your level of insult does it.

i hav'nt said at all you came asking blades specifically.
i said you rattled your begging tins in the town centre. a lot of blades put in just like you would if a tramp asked for 10p for a cuppa. therefor blades helped you stay alive. i know its hard to accept and your making me feel bad now. feel like i've told a mate his birds cheating.
now call it a day bud. log off go and give your head a shek and come back later. i'm starting to feel sorry for you. unregistered please come back.

I've lost count of the number of times you've implied that Wednesday begged the blades to help, and that if it wasn't for the blades of Sheffield, Wednesday would have gone bust.
Now it's fallen back a bit to 'blades helped you stay alive'. Yeah, only in the same way as the vicar and the nurse.
Seriously though, thanks

aw , your welcome.
NERVY-OWL 09-07-2008, 17:31 i could be wrong here but didnt rotherham do collections at wednesday home games, i put money in their bucket but i would never start using it against them. if some blades did put money in then thats good of them but if it hurt you that much to do it then why do it, surely there would of been enough contributions without blades money. if wednesday had to do collections, thats what they had to do but there is a bit of difference with that and a takeover
coopster1974 09-07-2008, 19:58 back on track - Wednesday had a day off from training today so why the hell not!

He's funny. I know someone who went to a community awards ceremony and Brian Laws was there giving awards out.
He got up on the stage and said: "I hoped Robson would be here as well so we could have a fight on the stage."
I think it all adds to the rivalry.

Is it illegal or what to start one on the opposite team ? :suspect:
