What's the most tired and over used cliché/expression/phrase on the Sheffield Forum?

The one I hate more than any other is

"Pot, kettle, black springs to mind".

God knows, the full version of this idiom is bad enough, but the abbreviated version is much worse. Stop it, please!

Chav.

A few monthes ago a Chav was a very specific type, now it's become a scapegoat figure for all sorts. "Chavs" are getting blamed for things that have been going on since before the term was around. Whose to blame for this? Probably the Chavs.

Definitely 'do-gooders' and 'pc'!! Do-gooders is a stupid term to use, cos obviously if you're using it in a deregatory sense then..you don't think the person's done any good! Also the daily mail etc have elevated 'pc' to being such a term of abuse that its just wantonly applied to everyone who doesn't agree with certain people's beliefs. For instance if I say I don't agree with hanging burgulars - thats not political correctness is it? Thats just an opinion.

Well, in fairness my particular favourite seems to be 'In fairness' at the moment. Doh! There I go again!

I have to agree with "insert name" on this one.

No you don't! Nobody is forcing you to.

Not really a cliché, but I always feel that people posting to say "I've e-mailed you" is a bit redundant!:)

The one I hate is

"I'm not being (XXX) or anything, but . . . "

Yes, you are! That's exactly what you're being! As in -

"I'm not being rude or anything, but, god, she is FAT!"

"I'm not being racist or anything, but there are so many Asians living on my street and I don't like it"

etc etc etc. It doesn't let you off, you know, just because you say "I'm not being" in front of an insult!!

Sheeeeesh!!

Has anybody actully been rolling around on their nice carpet after something they read on the internet? I doubt it.

The best I've ever done while reading some on the net is
SSCAMF - Slight Smirk Came Across My face

I laugh out loud quite often when reading Forum postings, and have nearly fallen off my chair laughing on a couple of occasions. Mind, I don't look at the Forum in public..... :suspect:

About 2,000 out of 4,000 posts telling us the difference between Ecclesall and Ecclesall Road?
