The heats are closed and we have 11 entries through to the final. We had more entries than ever before and, personally, I think the standard was higher too, so congrats to those who made it and commiserations to those who didn't - keep trying.

[edit...]

The finalists have been collected together into their own gallery - you can see them here (http://gallery.sunset-studio.co.uk/v/JuneFinal/) and judge for yourself which you think is the best.

Nope, you don't have to be a member, anyone can enter. This month the theme is decay. Look at the thread about how to enter.

Yes open to anyone, if you have a Argos special or a £5000 top end camera it don't matter. You either can join the photo hosting site ( from following the photo links above) or contact HOOK and he will submit the photographs for you.

Oops! Me too. Looks like you've dropped one there, Hook!

Hook

GRRRRR!

First of all it was only displaying images full-size, and now it's only displaying images thumbnails. I'm not sure when the settings are exactly the same as the normal gallery.

Will have a play.

Hey - I'm not THAT mean - I don't want to get rid of everybody else's piccies! Just make 'em about half size and a tad blurred! :hihi:

Like matsalleh says, it's not taking part that counts, it's grinding everybody else into the dust!

Looks like we have a result. The winner never seemed in much doubt tho there was an epic struggle for 2nd place.

Winner: Creswell Crags
http://gallery.sunset-studio.co.uk/d/130-1/Creswell+Crags.jpg

Second: Three Choppers
http://gallery.sunset-studio.co.uk/d/339-1/ThreeChoppers.jpg

Third Equal: Three Huts
http://gallery.sunset-studio.co.uk/d/221-1/three+huts.jpg

Third Equal: Motherdie-2
http://gallery.sunset-studio.co.uk/d/335-1/Motherdie-2.jpg

I'll own up to 'Three Choppers'. Would the perpetrators of the winning and third-equal entries like to step forward and be recognised?

Hook

Will beetroot, ellgee and cloudforest please step forward!

Wow! Thanks folks! I'm really pleased that so many of you liked the picture enough to vote for it. I thought there were so many great photos this month and I had a hard decision choosing which one to vote for. I'm struggling to come up with a pic for 'Decay' though but I'll keep trying!

ImpInaBox

It has just been suggested to me that it would be fun if everyone's name was revealed at the end of the competition, not just the winners. Or is that a bit cruel?

C'mon then lolliew, which was your pic?

Ah - right - congratulations then. I'd have cropped it more and tweaked the sky a bit, but a good pic nevertheless.

cloudforest
15-07-2008, 22:45
Thanks Imp. The sky was the biggest problem to be honest. It was tweaked a bit but I didn't want it to 'grey out'. It was taken about 7.30am in early November, the only time that you can get some light on both sides of the gorge without the sun flaring into the lens. The swans were 'positioned' with a floating food!

mine was the 'faces'. great pic of the kids and everyone in the family got a framed copy of it for xmas from the little monsters. it was just snapped one afternoon at roche abbey as we were running round and basically having a great day.

struggeling this month though :(

So many good ones this month.

My friend the lurker said that she had trouble picking a winner this month. I loved the Creswell Crags photo but also liked the Ruins, the Seagulls and the three faces.

Mine was the Penguins. Its a pretty poor photograph technically and was taken with my old crappy film camera but the subject is good

wow, 3rd equal - thanks everyone.

Mine was 3 Huts - I took it on Brighton Beach, near Melbourne earlier this year.

It's nice to get a few votes, I think I'm always too picky with my own pics and always end up scrapping loads that others might think are ok!

My favourite was 3 Choppers, I think it's a really well caught shot.

off to find something that's decaying now... ;-)

I voted for yours. I thought it was an excellent photo that had one of the more original and satisfying 'three' themes - which was where it scored over the winner for me, fine pic though it is.

Thanks for that Bad_Hair_Day!

I voted for 'three huts' in the heats (since it didn't clash with mine :D). A classic shot - well composed, in-your-face '3' and even the sky colour tones beautifully with the huts! It gave me a warm feeling and made me want to be there.

Thanks Taxman! I think everyone knows this one was mine:hihi:
I have to say I liked the 3 choppers best - good job it didn't win though, otherwise I'd be shouting 'FIX!!!':D

Hello

I am so pleased to come joint third. This was one of my first shots taken with my new camera. Never taken more than holiday and birthday snaps before and this is the first time I have entered a competition, but it wont be the last. A big thank you to everyone who voted, not just for my photo.
