Our friends came over from Manchester, and cos they have a car, we decided to go and have a look round Thornberry. As usual I ended up having a quiet sob in the kennels:roll: OH told me to put the cat carrier in the car "just in case":hihi:

Unsurprisingy, we ended up bringing someone-a cat called Maddie-!-home! She's a six year old semi-longhaired tortie, and just beautiful!

She's a funny, very big girl! Follows us round like a little dog, making odd noises:love: Our other cats, April (17months) and Ginger (17years) are slightly put out at the moment, but there's been no flying fur, and very little hissing, thank God!

Will post pictures when we have some, thank you Thornberry!

Also, we adopted a new guinea pig this week from a fellow forummer. His name is Bertie, and he's black and white. There's no room for him to be put in with our other pigs, so we are now searching for a companion for him. How dare *Peaches* give birth and not be on msn when I need her:hihi:

Thanks Pigger, Bertie is doing great, he's such a docile little monkey:)

My broodiness is still not satisfied, however. I just keep wanting more and more! How can I stop myself from rescuing an obscene amount of furries? My OH is about as broody as I am, so he's a very very bad influence! We are starting fostering soon, hopefully that will cure my itch for more and more furry paws!

It's that time of year again- this time last year, our family swelled to the tune of one norwegian forest cat (Charlie, care of xxhunniixx) and 3 coldwater fish + tank (c/o littie_s and xxhunniixx) Shortly after arrival, Charlie the wegie made very good friends with our other wegie and lo and behold we got kittens... and no, the broodiness gene never heals - it is only ever slightly controlled by the 'voice of reason' and the ever-shrinking purse' genes... Enjoy your new arrivals

Hmmm if you find a solution to pet broodiness please let me know as I have been a sufferer since I was about 5 :hihi: (and that is a very long time ago  ) do you think a cure is possible? or is it now hopeless for me?

I also now have the same problem of a partner who is just bad as me...God help us all! :help:

Congratulations on the new arrival...lots of Maddy pics please, my most favourite is fluffy torti cats and no I'm not at all jealous :suspect: :hihi:

Just kidding anyway Peaches:) How's the hand? I do need another baba pig though, ahven't had a baby in the house for years!

Thanks everyone! I don't think I'll ever have a cure for broodiness! Moonbird I daren't post a pic if fluffy torties are you favourite-she's so delicious you might come and steal her from me :hihi:

katkin I don't have a voice of reason:hihi: BUT I do have a shrinking purse, maybe one of the two will be enough to make me behave:D

Maddie is settling in well, I've never know a cat be so "un-shy"! Parading round like she owns the place! At the moment I have Ginger and April laid on the floor next to me atone side whilst Maddie "performs" at the other side. They look revolted.:hihi:

That sounds like us-our family expanded 3 times in one week last week!
We went to the pound to take the photos and popped a pet carrier in the car 'just in case', and ended up coming home with our little ozzie.

We then took on a hamster from somebody that was moving house and didn't have time for him

followed by a gorgeous guinea pig (thanks pigger!) I think we have reached absoloute maximum numbers now (although could probably squeeze a few in somewhere!). Congratulations on your new additions and hope your having just as much fun as we are!

God you do sound like us! Just read and replied to your PM-I'd love a house as full of fur as you have!

Funny how when you say "just in case" it's actually impossible not to bring someone home!

Maddie is settling invery well-anyone woudl think she'd lived with us all her life!:suspect:

The only problem is she seems to have trouble aiming her bum into the corner of the litter tray. It just goes over the sides:roll:

Not too bad when it's a poo, but wee goes EVERYWHERE, cos our floors are quite uneven!

She's already aquired a nickname, thanks to me! Kept calling her "Maddie-moo" which has somehow morphed into just "moo-moo"

When I remember to buy batteries for the camera, or find the rechargable ones that Andy assures me are somewhere around, I'll post some pictures for you all:)

There are some good high-sided litter trays out there that make it more difficult for the occupant to kick litter ou or to miss the tray entirely. We got a couple at the Supreme Cat Show last year and they are great -
http://petfoodwarehouse.co.uk/browse_354

They were on offer for £6 at the show - I ordered a couple more for friends later on because they were so good
