Hi people,
Over the past few months Ive been having trouble with Firefox. Every now and then Firefox will suddenly use all my CPU and make it all run stupidly slow. I then have to shut Firefox down and it goes back to normal.

Now Ive just updated to the latest its doing exactly tyhe same but when I close Firefox using the close button and the window shuts but Ive I Ctrl + Alt + Del and look at processes it will say Firefox is still open.

Anyone else had this trouble? what Can I do?

is it firefox or the pluggins to firefox. Do you both have google bar or any other add on options like that?

Firefox is doing my head i now... With no add-on's it takes about 20 seconds to load when Opera & IE take only a few.

Apparently Firefox has a memory leak issue whereas it's Ram usage doesn;t reduce after closing tabs/add-on's.

Despite all this I'm still using it now, i suppose it's like the Alfa Romeo of the browser world???

At the risk of being accused of trolling, this kind of thing is why FF sucks.

I've been using IE for years with little to no problems AT ALL.

Wasn't long ago you started a thread saying you had converted to the FF way Rich, what happened?

I changed my mind.

FF is NOT a way of life, anyone who says it is clearly does not HAVE a life IMO.

People who think IE is a way of life and bang on about it at every opportunity are also a bit bonkers as well tbh.

I'd rather have a browser that's running slow than one that lets in all kinds of nasties from the internet!

Define what a "life" is please Rich, so that I can start "living".

FF2 had a memory leak (if you watched the FF process in Task Manager you could see the memory usage rise by the second)... this appears to be fixed in FF3 (although it does seem to use more memory by default). However, I too have noticed this problem with FF3 hogging the cpu. It seems to happen quite randomly - although i am wondering if it's something to do with Flash. My worst slow-downs seem to occur when i have a flash game on.

Today i haven't (afaik) loaded any flash, and haven't had any problems...

Nice comparison.

I haven't had any issue (except the memory leak) with the software before "upgrading" to version 3. I am quite tempted to go back to version 2.

So if FF is an Alfa then what does that make IE, Opera, Safari et al?

Btw, I'm current viewing Sheffield Forum using Opera, quite impressed!

TheBlueDragon it sounds like you're on FF2. Are you? If so, try FF3!
