Having spent most of the week stuck in front of my PC, I always appreciate getting some fresh air at the weekend! Normally we head off to the peaks but sometimes, when we're short of time, we go to the Botantical Gardens.
Where does anyone else recommend for a quick bit of fresh air and a nice walk in Sheffield? I'm not talking about large parks like Weston Park, Norfolk Park etc, but rather places that are similar to the Botantical Gardens. Anyone know any?
Whirlow Park is nice and pretty much hidden. I must have driven past it 100s of times before I knew where it was. There is also a quarry garden close to the entrance which is also worth a look (and also pretty much hidden. Well, when I say hidden I mean they don't go out of their way to advertise their presence.
Nomme
Whirlow
But it is off Ecclesall Rd South (bites lip hard) on the right hand side as you go towards Door Moor Pub. Entrance is opposite Limb Lane. :)

Rivelin Valley nature trail is good.
Have a look at the Rivelin Valley Conservation Group website (http://www.rivelinvalley.org.uk/), there is a map of the walk on it with some interesting info on the history of the valley.
It starts at Malin Bridge so you can just jump on the tram to get to it.
Ecclesall woods are nice - particularly this time of year.

Wadsley Common has a few nice walks (and bridle paths) - with some lovely views. Though, not at all like the Botanical Gardens.

No - it's a , now overgrown with birch, heathland.
South of Worral, west of Wadsley and north of Loxley.
Still nice, and refreshing, for a short walk - with good pubs near either end.

Graves Park is varied - woods, open paths, lakes, animals. It's quite big but many areas are quite concentrated so there's plenty to browse round and it's on several bus routes (53, 75, 2).
I have the same problem with time
