hi all,

I have a large attic window that is an old style velux window but isn't a velux if that makes sense?!
Anyone know the best place to get a blind for this type of window? Velux seem to only fit Velux windows, i thought about a normal roller blind but then the gravity would allow light though as it hangs down:huh:

anyone got an attic window and what type of blind/coverage do you have?

We had the same problem - bought a normal roller blind that was wider than the window (to allow for some sag) and use hooks at the bottom of the window to keep it against the wall (if that makes sense).
Works like a charm. Just got to be a little bit careful if you tighten it up when it is hooked in

If you have soome means of attaching the curtaining to the top of the window frame (ie curtain track etc)

How about putting a strip of the elastic-y "net wire" stuff, across the base of the window, and either thread the wire through the bottom hem of the curtain, and thus hold it tight,

or, alternatively, using the same ish method,

drape the extra length of the bottom of the curtain through the gap between the curtain wire and the frame, at the bottom of the window, (the only problem is, that second method is a bit more "Drape-y" and might not block enough light out, for sleeping well, in the early hours of light mornings).

(Edited to add, My bedroom as a youngster was an attic bedrom with a skylight-y window, rather than a Dormer in the roof, and that was the method which we used to block the light.)
