Hello,

I got a bit carried away on ebay and next thing I knew was getting a juicer sent from the states. I have subsequently realised that I may have problems as it is a different voltage and the power of the USA one is more than the UK version, have I got anything to worry about?

Cheers,

Dave

The USA runs on 110 volts, we run 240 volts. Plug it in here without some kind of step-down transformer, and itll probably catch fire.

Step down transformer, any idea where I can start looking for that?

Hi,

The description of the juicer says it has 600 watts and doing some research I think I need a transformer which would cost about £60, that's more than I paid for the juicer! I think I may learn from this experience? Am i looking at this right re the price?

Cheers,

Dave.

Yep, glad you found out on your own, saves me trying to convince you that it'd be cheaper to just buy a juicer in the UK.

Consider your lesson learnt!

Maplins sell a US-UK voltage converter. There was a guy in front of me buying one last month. Don't recall the price though.

How can a juicer need an electricity supply? Shirley you just push and twist? :) :)

fortunately it is the best sub £100 juicers you can get and I got it for a snip, I'm sure I'll shift it, probably have a go on this forum!

Thanks for all the advice, only consolation is that I now more about this subject than I did 24hrs ago, life's about learning and all that!

Cheers,

Dave.

i've tried to pm you and got the fatal error message ... so i dont know if it got through... i was saying I spoke to guys at wholesalers and they seem to think they have one for around £15 plus VAT ... however, with the prices you were all quoting of around £60 ... not sure if this is the right thing.

Will be trotting down there on Monday for something else so will check it out then .. let me know if you still in want of one please ...

the price depends on how much wattage you need to run the juicer from what I remember when I bought my transformer. The more watts you need the more you pay. I got one to use with my us gamecube from maplins and it cost 40 pounds ish.

webkey told me that it's a US juicer, 600W 120V 4A current.

The guys where I get my electrical stock told me over phone they have one but I need to check it out cos as I said the price is way below what you are talking about ... although I realise these "proper" places charge shedloads more than I do

You could always buy a 110v transformer from a tool shop and wire it through that :)

I'm not prepared to accept responsibility for any damage you cause or your death though :D

I did the same and bought a stereo system from the states through Ebay. I just took it to Bardwells on London Road and they told me I needed a 240 to 120 AC transformer... It was about £20 I think.
