myself and hubby are thinking about going to new zealand in january, and we have 2 4year old dogs (black lab and golden lab cross collie) now we want to go over for a year initially and have decided that to take them over before we have had the time to see if we definately want to move there forever will be more destressing for them as they have to spend time in quarantine and its a long flight. Its awfully expensive to take them over and then if we come back bring them back with us (we've been quoted £5495 each way fro both) . So was wondering if anyone has any ideas about long term fostering, or know of any kennels that do long term stays???? im at a total loss because I dont want to rehome them, if someone did want to foster them for me I would be quite happy to pay all expenses.Any ideas would be helpful.thanks for reading:help:

It sounds like you're going about things the right way!

We had a similar consideration when Mr Strix was offered a job in Oz, and there's no way I'd put Brude through the flight etc before we knew we were staying

I'd have been asking to kennel him with his breeder though, and asking for him to be sent over, as she's exported dogs before so knows what she's doing

If you're looking for a temporary home for them, I suggest you do an ad similar to the rehoming ones, describing what somebody would be letting themselves in for if they helped you out :)
