WOOT! Saw the trailer for the new Star Wars Clone Wars movie when I went to second viewing of Kung Fu Panda yesterday at Odeon in Town, just Googled for info on it, and the official site says it's out 15th of August!

I thought after Episode 3 there'd be no more Star Wars apart from Lucas bastardising the original trilogy over and over.

I just keep hoping that one day there'll be a third trilogy, set enough years after Return of the Jedi for as many of the original cast to come back as possible such as Harry Ford, Mark Hamill et al.

I'd thought it was an animated series running around 30 mins per episode.

Edit:

The animated feature showing in the cinema will lead in to the weekly animated TV series of the same name.

Lucas plans to keep Star Wars going by way of the CGI Clone Wars (set between Eps 2 and 3) and a planned live-action TV series (set between 3 and 4). He has dismissed any ideas or plans for anything set after the film series, so we will just have to stick with the excellent books and comic series' which do just that (notable the Heir to the Empire series, Dark Empire comics series, and Jedi Academy series)

I wanted to get excited about Clone Wars, after all the first animated series was amazing. However, I'm not sure about this new one. The trailer just didn't resonate with me. That said, I'll still watch it.

I've seen the movie today... And it bloody rocks! The animation was superb, the storyline was excellent, and the voice acting was also superb, although the only returning voices from the original films were Christopher Lee as Count Dooku and Anthony Daniels as C3PO iirc.

I rate the movie 9/10 anyway, but I'm a self confessed Star Wars geek so I'd rate it highly anyway.

I plan on buying the eventual DVD anyway, might even treat myself to some DVDs of the series to catch up on the storyline.

I too thouroughly enjoy a good bit of star wars but having seen the trailers for this i'm quite sure i'm not going to see it, it looks like it's aimed at little kids even more so than the recent films.

I know that was always gonna be the case, but i had been hoping it was gonna be a little bit cool aswell.

I'm not bothering with it I don't think. Star Wars has run it's course now. Time to move on I think, people.

I was less than impressed by the 'film'. It is compiled from what would have been the opening 4 episodes from the upcoming TV series, and as such seems to 'flow' in segments of 25 mins (with a nice fade out and back in as one episode ends and another begins). Due to the episodic nature it means that each 'epsiode' has a huge action set piece, meaning as a film it is nought but a series of explosions with a very poor plotline holding it together.

Throw in some ropey CGI (everyone moves like puppets rather than the fluid CGI we get in other films, or even on next gen console games), terrible voice acting, a new annoying-kid character to grate on your nerves, and no sense of excitement, adventure and wonder, this 'film' should have stayed on TV.

The original Clone Wars series was a cool series of short animations, with a fantastic stylised 2D animation. This new Clone Wars is just another milking of the cash-cow, and yet another Star Wars entry that will never soil my DVD collection (and that's without mentioning the lack of an intro scroller which even the poorest of SW computer games - yes, Rebel Assault, I mean you - at least attempt to do).

Marginally better than the dreadful prequels, but that is like saying a kick in the crotch is preferable to being stabbed in the face.
