shihtzumad 05-07-2008, 07:04 PM How hard do u think it is choosing your pets name, i think its right hard, we have had our new baby puppy 4 weeks now and still not settled on her name, my friend has got her sister and she is in the same boat as me.
How do u choose your pets name................
mojo1 05-07-2008, 07:07 PM I just look at them, something usually leaps out at me.
tinkabel 05-07-2008, 07:10 PM My son names ours :hihi: we have Luna the puppy, Max the goldfish and then he got another fish last week so daddy called it Paddy (Max & Paddy )
SallyLaLaLa 05-07-2008, 07:56 PM I have a Paddy too, but he is named after Patrick Viera and was born on Paddy's day (the OH is Irish). We also have Boofee which is Albanian for little owl. And our fish is called Mr Fish. And so was the fish before it, I think we were a bit lazy with that one.
SpeedDemon 05-07-2008, 08:14 PM I think it's reaaaalllllllllyyyyy difficult and i always struggle when we get new pets. I named the dog Blade for obvious reasons. Donut the cat was originally Daisy (the woman who bred her called her that from birth, so we kept it when she came to us at 8 weeks old) but eventually became daisy donut, then the daisy was dropped, cos she's SUCH a donut - climbs brick walls n stuff. The kids named her 2 sons Bob n Kevin. Don't ask! lol. The maine coon is princess delilah, named by me, just sprang to mind and sounded a posh name for a posh cat. The parrot was originally called Max, then for some strange reason that none of us can remember he became maximus pikelet, is now known as pikelet. He also seems to have forgotten he was ever max, as he doesn't say that anymore but frequently shouts pikelet. Oh it's also pikelet's birthday, he's 4 today! :partyhat: My rabbits have all been named after film n TV stars. Now and in the past, I've had Jack n Vera (Duckworth) Harrison Ford, Wesley Snipes, Grace Jones, Jessica Rabbit, Olivia Newton-John, Rod Jane & Freddy (playschool) Morgan Freeman, Molly Sugden, Gus & Jules (eastenders) Patrick Stewart, Mae West, Doris Day, etc etc the list goes on lol
savbaby 05-07-2008, 08:50 PM the dogs came named luckily but the cats i have had from kittens, it took me nearly 2 months to give hunny her name and it only happened cause i sat on her and said ooh sorry hunny!!! lol.. Jess was named by my friend as we couldnt decide and she said jess was a nice name .. mini sav has nicknamed them to hunny moo moo and jessie baby!
DaFoot 05-07-2008, 09:19 PM I always struggle with naming pets, though my critters have a theme for names which helps.
My last rats, the names just seemed right and kinda arrived in my head :)
shihtzumad 05-07-2008, 09:27 PM Loads arrive in my head and then i think no i cant call her that, i will have to work out how to put her picture up and see if u can name her
mrs gough 05-07-2008, 10:10 PM We are soon to become the proud owners of a french mastiff aka Dogue de bordeaux, It took ages to pick the name we had loads....Lola, penny, lolly, dolly, rosie, della, dell, to name afew. Then we all stuck on Belle, its french meaning beautiful.
shihtzumad 05-07-2008, 10:14 PM Belle is nice, but one of my dogs are called ellie, we shout "ellie belle ball" so belle is out
bobgirlsnake 05-07-2008, 10:30 PM my 3yr old son picks all our pets names we have... bob girl snake , tinky wonker , ronjo , zeppelin , treea lucky they dont answer to there names so i dont have to feel silly shouting them, though he named the kittens fluffy and tigger
Sal22 05-07-2008, 10:53 PM We find it really hard, we go through many names until one seems right, so far we have had Sidney (big ginger cat it just seemed to suit him) Magoo(a hamster i can't remember why) Milo (who was called Milly for the first 3 days untill we discovered he'd been wrongly sexed) and Luna (she came already named and it just seemed to suit her).
I have no idea how anyone ever manages to name a child it mut be much worse.
Naming a pet is difficult, but when you finally think of the right name, you just know it's right!
I got a new dog a couple of weeks ago, he came as Sonny, because of his nice nature, but it wasn't right. He's supposedly 15 years old, but very lively - especially compared to the 15 year old bitch I have.
One day I was looking at him and thought he bounced round like he was on springs - which reminded me of Zebedee, in the Magic Roundabout, so he's now Zeb - which really suits him.
