Hello
I'm refurbing my bathroom and need some advice, particularly around the order of works.
Plumber is going to rip out the old suite and install new one. Not sure about this but I have been advised that we can retile the bathroom once the new suite is in - can anyone advise on this? Any recommendations on good priced tile shops would be very welcome.
False ceiling needs to be pulled down and need spot lights installing. Is this a relativley straightforward job? Could this be done after the bathroom has been retiled?
Many thanks

The best person to speak to is the guy you are employing to fit the bathroom suite. Its best to get all of the 'dirty work' out of the way first. So get the suite ripped out and the ceiling down. Wiring in, new ceiling up Then, plastering where necessary. Ask your plumber if he needs to do any 1st fix pipe work before the plastering. Personally my order of work is to next fit the lights then the bath, then the tiling, then the basin and wc last to avoid having to tile around them, much neater.

rip out the whole room(temporary toilet if needed usually with a bucket to flush it )
remove all bad walls/tiles etc.. rip out ceiling.
upgrade electrics as req, first fix pipework bath/toilet/sink and possibly shower,
board and skim walls/ceiling.
fit bath,
tile floor,walls,
second fix pottery/shower,
second fix lighting/switch gear,
fit new door/frame etc.
bath panel and seal bath.
oops just read the post above .. much the same as above .. :)

Spot on although if fully tiled you can just board the walls, no need to skim.
Also if tiling the floor and it is floor boards make sure proprietory tile backer board is used or 12mm Marine ply not I repeat not 6mm ply.
