Any ideas what is considered a reasonable percentage loss to have from a final settlement regarding a household contents claim. The cover consisted of unlimited new for old replacement ( following a house fire )

Its disgusting that they try to 'barter' your claim down in the first place. they say to us ... 'it'll be £280 for the year insurance' ............ we wouldnt dream of saying ......'I'll pay you £180?' ......... bloody insurance

If their offer is in line with the terms and conditions of the policy, you may not have a choice.
Call the loss adjuster and ask him to outline where/why the deductions have been made then challenge any points you disagree with but only argue on a point of fact!
There will probably be some room for negotiation and a calm and factual point of veiw will get you far.
Good luck.
