Hi guys,

Wonder if you could help.
Am using Windows XP, Internet explorer 6 and norton and spysweeper.
For some time, when I try and load a picture, I get just a red cross in the corner instead of the pic. Have checked the internet options setting and the box marked "show picture" is ticked.
Any suggestions on how to get the pictures back would be gratefully appreciated.

Cheers

Hey there

I would first try clearing your temporary internet files etc, and then checking that you dont use a proxy sever.

To do this open Internet Explorer (IE)
Go to Tools, Internet Options
Click on the button labelled "Delete Files"
Click OK
Go away and make a cup of tea - this is gonna take a few minutes
Once you have drunk your tea, and the busy icon has gone back to normal, click on connections at the top
Highlight the default connection and click "settings"
Remove the ticks (if you have any) from "Use a proxy server..." and "Bypass proxy server for local addresses"
Click OK
Click on the Security tab at the top. and click default level.
Click Apply, then OK.

Let me know if this helps?

A =)

What format is the picture in ? (jpg, bmp, gif)

Is the error happening within a web page. If it is then it could be a java virtual machine error? (if so then download the microsoft VM or the Sun equivalent)

Also what program is it that you are trying to open the pic up in ..if it isn't within a web page ?

Have you tried disabling Norton (:gag: ) and seeing if this is the problem ?

Hi there Yammy, Thanks for the help
To answer your questions.....the format of the pictures is jpg
Have downloaded Java but no difference and am opening the pages in IE 6.
Still have no idea why I cannot view the pics..

Just a thought.

Are these pictures on a website ? or are they on a web page you are constructing and trying to view ?

Also you could try setting your security setting to 'default' within Internet options
