Hi, I've recently bought a Panasonic 37" LCD and want to play DVDs from my computer through it. I've hooked up the cables (DVI for screen & 3.5mm for sound) - nowt!
Do I need to 'point' my PC at the TV?
I've gone into properties but the TV is not showing up>

I had this with my lap top it turned out my graphics card wasn't up to the job.
I doubt its the graphics card if you're getting nothing at all.
Is this a laptop we're taking about - have you set it to use an external monitor? Usually Alt & F4 or something like that?

No floyd, it's a desktop which was custom-built from the finest components just 6 months ago.

Are you running a monitor from it already?

Yup, 22". Could that be it? Gotta disconnect PC monitor first?

Not really, what type of graphics card you using? If it lets you plug 2 monitors in then you should be able to have either a extended desktop or a clone display.

Erm, no. Just for the people thinking of trying Alt-F4, don;t. It is a shortcut for closing the program you are currently using.

you might have to go into display properties, check that a second screen is attached and make sure that it is ticked. That will enable an extended desktop to be created

True - not quite with it today. I meant Function & F4!
