What do you make of the new bbc drama bonekickers

Archaeological drama series. The excavation of medieval soldiers from the Crusades leads to the hunt for the True Cross. Brilliant archaeologist Dr Gillian Magwilde and her team race to uncover the truth, as a fanatical right-wing Christian reawakens a force of violent modern-day crusaders.

Sounds like a cross between Time Team and The Da Vinci Code.

It'll probably be rubbish but I'll give it a go.

Just watched what I think was the first episode. It was quite an exciting idea, and quite spooky in parts, but it seems that it was all over in one hour. I think they could have spread it out over a few more weeks and made it a bit more enthralling. A wasted opportunity if I'm right.

However, one of the characters was exactly as I imagine Lord Chaverley to be!

Last nights was 1 of 6 though wasn't it? I haven't made my mind up about it yet...don't know really. A couple of times I found myself saying "hmmm, as if", we'll see though.:|

Ahh! but is it six different 'digs' or are they all on a related theme? It just seemed to me that what could have been two major characters were killed off in the first episode?

Or do you think Laygass and the Knight Templar character might not actually have been burnt to death in the underground cathedral? The plot thickens :D

It did seem a little disjointed in parts, did you think, with several "and with a single bound he was free" type situations!

Yes and when the flat was broken into.....would you run all the way back to the owner and say "oh by the way, someone broke into your flat" just like that.:)
The beheading made me jump though! :hihi:

It was quite hilarious in parts, true. But, sadly, I don't think it was meant to be. Just a consequence of bad writing and acting probably :)

I wondered if it came from "an orginal idea from Time Team", as I find that very amusing too, although that may be because I always expect Tony thingy to morph into Baldrick at some point during the excavations :hihi:

the beheading was terrible gruesome, I don't think it was necessary so close to the watershed.

and yeah, how on earth did the young woman manage get out of the older woman's flat, when the sword wielding bloke(s) broke in, let alone how she managed to get all the way back to where she was, to tell her.

Yes, I didn't know whether it should have been shown on CBeebies or just left till some unearthly hour when we should be in bed.

In a nut, it was pathetic and it was a complete waste of an hour of my time which could have been better spent cutting the lawn with scissors or trying to knit fog.

Why does every BBC drama that I have the misfortune of passing my eyes over have the very same cast - same 'characters', same 'ethnic' numbers etc? Predictable indeed.

This programme descended, literally, into farce when they managed to swing on ropes held by a bloke who had a knife held to his throat. They found the momentum from somewhere and suddenly it was Billy Smart's circus in a superbly lit underground auditorium.

Even forgiving the amount of junk which frankly, insulted my intelligence, I thought the timing in showing this rubbish was a little on the insensitive side. Flashing 20 inch blades and decapitating Asian blokes (and largely, other ethnic people) is pretty much a political hot potato at the moment and this might have best been left for another day (or rather, indefinitely shelved).

I will ensure I waste no more time on this programme. I'm beginning to think that no matter how much television licence money was spent on it, Jonathan Ross is beginning to represent good value for money.

Well I enjoyed it tho it had to be taken with a huge pinch of salt.

There was enough material and characters in that first episode to make a good serial, so I think it's going to be a mistake making each episode a separate story.

appalling. I was very disappointed. the script was appalling. i thought that the actors did a good job of it but I am not sure I will be bothering again.

Not even that good escapism. Spooks can be so far fetched but at least it is good quality escapism..

It looked like Raiders of the Lost Ark had it been made by British Leyland.

Didn't anyone else think that 'Daniel Mastiff' was Lord Chaverley? :)

I thought it was mostly awful with occasional scenes of truly bad.

And when I saw the next episode preview with the bit about "there are people out there who don't want a black man to be President" my heart just sank. Can't the BBC make anything without forcefeeding their political views down everyones throat?

I saw the ads for it and cringed! Someone has obviously watched Indiana Jones and CSI in one night before writing it!

Because of you lot on here, I downloaded it yesterday and watched it thinking "surely it can't be THAT bad"?
Well, it is.
One of the worst programmes I've seen in a long time. Pity the fire didn't burn them all in the first episode.

Same here, I'm quite interested in the Knights Templar and all that, but I never reached that bit.

The acting is abominable. The script is dire. The driection is toss.

I can't believe just how bad it is.

I saw the last bit of Doctor Who last week and that was just as bad. What is the BBC doing?

There are more people qualified and able to make programmes and films than ever, and they're pumping crap like this out.

It was truly awful. It's a shame Adrian Lester is in anyway involved in this he must have had his self assessment form come through the letterbox at the same time as the script for this show.

Laughable.

BBC hang your heads in shame.
