View Full Version : Certain bands who should play the uk more bellis 01-07-2008, 18:27 does it annoy anyone that certain bands they really like hardly tour here or just play one date usally in london pearl jam tour the uk please:) igm1 01-07-2008, 18:31 All of them! It's just because our country is small compared to others- such as the U.S. EdnaKrabappe 01-07-2008, 18:39 Aqualung. Had a date at Plug last year but it got cancelled due to being dropped by British record company. Brand New Heavies - lots of American tours but not Britain. Aretha Franklin ;) Go on love, a little plane ride won't hurt you! medusa 01-07-2008, 18:41 I'll second Aqualung and add Tool. NEKRO138 01-07-2008, 19:19 I think I've seen Tool twice in two years! I wouldn't say no to seeing them again though. Pearl Jam, I saw them on the Binaural tour, the one where every one of the gig recordings was officially released. I've got Mike McCready's pick from that gig in Manchester. I don't think they've been since. Sunn0))) for me and Metallica. They used to tour England properly all the time. Now it's just festivals and London. And a lesser know band called Zeke. And Sigur Ros! And My Bloody Valentine. They played in Manchester the other night, but both nights at Apollo sold out really quick. Funky_Gibbon 01-07-2008, 20:07 To hell with playing the UK, come to Sheffield for once! igm1 01-07-2008, 22:26 To hell with playing the UK, come to Sheffield for once! Seconded (well....by just about everyone on this forum!) It's always puzzled me why Sheffield never seems to be on tour circuits. Pauline BHG 02-07-2008, 08:31 It's just as bad here in Scotland.... I live in the capital city, yet would have to go through to Glasgow to see most bands, or travel to England !! When i lived in Sheffield, i'd travel to Manchester/Notts/London to see bands, but as soon as i left, the Carling Academy opened ! So i'm thinking a lot more bands may start playing there...? igm1 02-07-2008, 09:15 When i lived in Sheffield, i'd travel to Manchester/Notts/London to see bands, but as soon as i left, the Carling Academy opened ! So i'm thinking a lot more bands may start playing there...? More NME overhyped bands, yes. SKYWATCHER 02-07-2008, 13:17 i would love to see the doobie brothers again. they played areana with forigner and were fantastic live. aso like to see the black crowes come back to sheffield. and iggy pop, who played leeds last year with the stooges and were incredible Rah Rah Rah 03-07-2008, 17:50 To hell with playing the UK, come to Sheffield for once! I agree with that also. Biffy Clyro, The Academy Is ( although I think they played at Plug last year ), Fall Out Boy, Cobra Starship:) Zimily 03-07-2008, 20:09 Red Hot Chilli Peppers! and loads of American bands from the punk scene, although I don't think they come here much as it costs so much and the music I like has a bigger following in America. NEKRO138 04-07-2008, 08:45 I agree with that also. Biffy Clyro, The Academy Is ( although I think they played at Plug last year ), Fall Out Boy, Cobra Starship:) Biffy Clyro have played every toilet in the UK. They played the Octagon last November. For this reason, I'm glad they're now doing well. A vey hard working band. I've seen them play Sheffield a number of times. NEKRO138 04-07-2008, 08:46 I would like to see +44 do a tour. bellis 04-07-2008, 08:46 i hope nine inch nails play the acadamy when they tour next:) NEKRO138 04-07-2008, 08:50 i hope nine inch nails play the acadamy when they tour next:) Me too. They are brilliant live. Or they were, Trent's sacked all the band that played on the last tour. I'm sure they'll still be very good. He will only accept the best from his staff. Last time I saw them on their own tour, Ladytron supported them. They are well worth seeing and are supporting Interpol on Wednesday at the Academy. They also have their own headline set at the Academy in November. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dtqGoHouoE0 Rah Rah Rah 04-07-2008, 10:15 Biffy Clyro have played every toilet in the UK. They played the Octagon last November. For this reason, I'm glad they're now doing well. A vey hard working band. I've seen them play Sheffield a number of times. I diddn't know that. I've only like them for a few weeks, coz I got their album ' Puzzle' then went on to get ' Infinity Land ' and ' Vertigo of Bliss' . Yeah, they rock!:D Mighty_Boosh 05-07-2008, 09:55 I've been waiting for Buckethead to come back to the UK since seeing him play with GnR at Leeds festival back in 02. Would like NIN to do a "proper" tour, not just a one of show, that tickets sell out within 10 mins then appear on ebay for crazy prices. A John Frusciante solo tour would be awesome too. probedb 05-07-2008, 16:18 Pearl Jam, I saw them on the Binaural tour, the one where every one of the gig recordings was officially released. I've got Mike McCready's pick from that gig in Manchester. I don't think they've been since. Ditto, was at the same gig! They have played but only one small gig in London and Leeds/Reading last year, yet in the US there's a Who event with The Who, Pearl Jam, Incubus and various others....that sort of thing never happens here :( |
