i suppose in london when you get 20 bikes in a bay if all of them were joined together it would make it harder for people to steal. But i normally chain it to an object anyway.

No.

If you've got three bikes chained together and the middle one is unlocked...

:suspect:

Sounds fraught with possible problems....

You'd need lots of other people to sign up - (I've never heard of this before?)
What if you forget your lock keys, and someone else chains his/her bike to yours?

but if you foget your lock keys, thats just you who will be in trouble.

Even if 3 bikes were chained together and the middle one is unlocked its no more of a problem, at the moment you can just put a chain round the wheel and leave it - if theres nothing to chain it to. This is just letting people know that you can chain your chain to theres.

Ahh - yes makes more sense now! Just lock them chain to chain.

But......this presents a bigger problem, say I have a £150 oxford chain and lock, someone attaches a £5.99 chain & padlock - theif snips their cheap chain and nicks my bike!

yeh but the point is

you are going to leave your bike with a chain on (maybe a disk lock aswell) and it isnt going to be chained to anything

it just might put someone off lifting it into a van if theres a few more bikes chained together as there going to have to cut a few chains and are more likly to be seen

Your expensive lock is still through your rear wheel, their cheep chain is through their wheel and your lock.

If someone snips the cheap chain, the other bike is vulnerable, but your expensive lock is still through your back wheel.

I think it's a good idea.

Why don't the BMF, MAG and/or MCN print stickers for free, job done.

:)

Ok now I see, yep It could be a good Idea but why pay for it wouldn't it be better to have your own sticker done or like you say get a main biking organication to print em. Im sure with the amount of profit MCN make they could print some free with the paper.

i think the only reason you have to pay £10 or £2 for stickers is just to cover there costs of making it i dont think they will be making much money and you get discounts of sercurity devices

£2 for the sticker I could live with but the tenner registration nope don't like that already too many bloody forms floating around for things.

Any idea that makes it harder for the bike theiving scum gets my approval
Can't understand why any one would pay to do this though! :loopy: Just do it anyway. It don't take a degree to work out how to free your own bike, even if you've never come across this security method before.
We all know that it's not always possible to secure our pride and joy and even when we can, no doubt we'd get a ticket for obstruction or the likes, :suspect: but thats eaisier than providing secure bike parks or catchin' the crims :roll:

Happy riding all:wave:

Well, if anyone see's my bike parked up they are welcome to lock to it (chain to chain) not going to put the reg number, obviously - but you cant miss it - its a red & gold Yamaha XJ 600.......
