Remembering all those who who perished on this fateful day1916 particularly those of the Sheffield Pals who went off to a great adventure some never to return.

They shall grow not old as we that are left grow old,
Age shall not weary them or the years condemn,
At the going done of the sun and in the morning
We Will remember Them

Many who fell on 1st July 1916 are commemorated here at the Sheffield Memorial Park on the Somme. Some of the Sheffield Pals are buried in Railway Hollow cemetery in the background.
