Noggin as in... the Nog??? My absolute favourite as a very, very small child, I'd love to see that again. Almost (but not quite) worth getting cable/satellite/whatever for.

Aww, I loved this too as a very wee girlie - admittedly, I didn't understand it, but it was fantastic! I found the music and the narrator's voice quite creepy, but it all added to the enjoyment! Quite gothic really, as I recall - or I am talking rubbish now? :D

No, you're right - it was all very Viking mythology-type stuff, and the narrator was Oliver Postgate, who also did the Clangers, Bagpuss etc, I had a tape of his autobiography somewhere, interesting stuff.

That's correct, DanSumption, Oliver Postgate also did the voiceovers for the Pogles and Ivor the Engine, as well as Noggin the Nog, and the Clangers.
I was very into the works of "smallfilms" (Peter Firmin and Oliver Postgate's company, which produced the Clangers, Bagpuss etc.)
I have the Bagpuss complete collection on video, and I have been trying to convert my grandkids to loving this programme, too! lol!
trivia time I:- Mrs Postgate knitted all the clangers, herself!
trivia time II:- Emily, the little girl who brought Bagpuss to life in each episode, was Peter Firmin's R-L daughter.
