What was all that about for 90 minutes on BBC 2 last night. So James Burton was a compulsive gambler, that had lost everything. He had his lucky routine, that he had to adopt before any gambling. So do some footballers before playing, skydivers before jumping etc. etc. So what was new?

I felt it was empty of how he arrived at that point and what his future plans were.

I guess, although watching it I found it quite shallow, I am talking about it now so it must have made some impact.

Did you watch it? And what did you think?

All very sad.

Especially the bit about not being wanted at his daughter's wedding (I think that's what happened because I only turned it on half way through).

Also there was much talk about him going to a 'gamblers anonymous' type of thing but when the credits rolled, it said he's decided to to go.

I wonder what's become of him now?

Do these people volunteer to be on programmes like that. It was said, that when the commentator first met him, he knew he had to make a film of him. How did he meet him.

And did he gamble away the fee charged for filming him?

Alot of loose ends

Thank you for the link. As you may know from my previous postings I am chairperson of SHARP, SHeffield Alcohol Recovery Project, I am a recovering alcoholic myself. Sometimes people take the, dare I say, Pee out of me, if you excuse the pun!!!! Sometimes people turn their back on me and the persons of our group. They should open your link and read it.

There is an old Chinese proverb

It doesn't matter how high up the ladder you climb, what is important is what you overcome to climb each rung.
