Hi,
I have an old dog and he keeps wetting on my floor. This has lifted my laminate flooring and my lino. Just wondered if anybody could suggest any type of flooring that can withstand getting wet .
Thanks
Only thing I can think of is tiling. But if its the front room your dog is peeing in tiling won't look right.
Only other suggestion - give dog to Ozzy Osbourne and let it pee til it's hearts content at his house!
you can get laminate designed for bathroom use, although i don't know how good it is.
tiling obviously.
real wood, with a varnish finish.
Real wood is really nice - bit pricey but can look great.
Having an old dog too you have to think about the fact that if you varnish the wood to try to protect it from getting wet, (although not sure if urine would rot the varnish) this would make it very slippy for your dog who if it's anything like mine when the door bell goes looks like Bambi on ice!!
Having a rug just defeats the whole point because that will get peed on too!
Thanks guys
Its actually my kitchen floor so think i might look into having it tiled.
Thanks again
Have you thought of getting the things from the pet shop that you use to train puppys, they are like a pad/sheet you put on the floor and the dog will pea on that. They have something in that dogs sniff and encourages them to use it ,you do not change them every time so not to expencive.
Do they also do those for toddlers' potties? I'd pay good money for such a thing!!!!!!!
Pampers used to sell 'care mats' for changing a baby on or to put under a potty !!
My kids all out of nappies now so don't do the nappy aisle in the supermarket anymore but I am sure they will still be available!!

On the subject of flooring has anyone ever insulated a cellar ceiling or rooms floorboards? I’ve just had a very chilly winter in my living room and need to sort something out before it gets cold again.

not yet, but it's on my list of things to do.
From my cellar I can see the underside of the beams and the flooring. My plan is to put loft insulation in the space between the beams, staple it up with a staple gun. Then put a layer of chipboard underneath the beams (avoiding all the cables).
Then from the top I intend to hunt down the area's that drafts come from and seal them with some silicone sealant.
Oh, and then get some decent underlay and a new carpet.
