Can anybody recommend a cheap dedicated server either in the U.K or U.S.A? It doesn't need to be anything spectacular, a 2.4 celeron would do the job, as long as it's got a 40gb + hard drive and over 100gb bandwidth a month.

I'm putting together a range of quotes and have an extensive list so far, I've always found the best deals come from word of mouth and not google so hopefully some of you kind people know of some good budget offerings.

Also, if anybody has any experience with dedicated servers, which operating system do you prefer? At the moment I'm toying between debian and fedora, possibly even red hat 9 because of it's reputation for web hosting.

Thank you for your help,

Grant

How about AmenWorld (http://www.amenworld.com/static/index_1025.html). They offer a variety of configurations.

They also offer fedora core or RH9 as the OS. Plesk is included for server administration, if required.

A friend of mine was told about that site also but we were a bit concerned it was too cheap! Do you have any experience with them? I'll have a dig around the net and see if I can find some customer reviews of them.

Thank you for your help!

Indeed we have had experience with AmenWorld.

We had no problems at all whilst we "tested the water" with them earlier this year. To the point where we will be getting another from them soon.

Customer Support was pretty rapid also;).

The servers are in RedBusHouse, Paris BTW.

I've been reading some really negative stuff about Amenworld just lately, what with the striking and things. I am considering trying a http://serverpronto.net/ server, for only £15 a month with no minimum contract I can't really go wrong. Does anybody have any experience with this company?

Cheers,

Grant
