Did anyone see her 'performance' at Glasto on TV last night? The woman could hardly stand let alone sing. She was having to be supported by her minders as she was all over the place, she sounded like your average drunk slapper on saturday night karaoke and her eyes were as wide as saucers.

Can't some governing body somewhere stop her doing this until she cleans her act up? There's kids watching this stuff. :(

I love how she mumbles and then just goes... tears dry on their own. Saves you remembering the words I suppose.

I think i know ALL the words to Amy Winehouse songs as well as she does.

e.g.

I cheated myself,
like I knew I would
I told you mmmemeemy trouble.
mmmeeee I'm no good.

Anyway I just think it's inevitable she's going to destroy herself and it's very soul disturbing to think we are contributing to that.

Any other comments on Glasto coverage? I've not watched much... just listening to the Enemy now who i still love.

I don't know how anyone can't think these aren't a brilliant live band - they give it their all!

Also enjoyed the fratellis and we are scientists.

Baring in mind the state she was in was the song appropriate – Rehab, or what about this report from someone that is either blind or deaf, probably both.

"Looking tan and radiant, Amy Winehouse on Friday sang at Nelson Mandela's 90th birthday concert in London in spite of health problems that have plagued her."

Hasn`t she got into a bit of a ruck?
Oh was telling me she bent down at the front and someone grabbed her hair, so she ended up punching them.

Even wasted and a shadow of herself, even strung out on substances and not coherent shes still fantastic.

What are people complaining about? She not doing anything that Keith Richards, Kurt Cobain, Billie Holliday, David Bowie, Johnny Cash, Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, Keith Moon, Bon Scott, Ronnie Wood or dozens of others haven't done. Now admittadley most of those who've done it are now dead but thats surely the point of rock stars? Who wants rock stars that jog 6 miles a day and eat wild rice and are teetotal? I want my rock stars thin and wasted and strung out, covered in self mutilation and meaning it. Living it. Every bit of it. Rock stars who are sober suck.

You'll be shocked at me saying this, being the respectable woman that I am and the moaning I do about the falling standards in today's world, but we can't really expect a tortured talent like the divine Ms Amy to conform to the standards of us lesser mortals. I'm sorry but if someone pulled her hair when she was mingling, they deserved a smack in the face!

I agree with discodown, she's a star and a major talent. It goes with the territory. They have to be fragile, spoiled, dangerous. Keep your Madonnas and Kylies, they're just ordinary ... Amy's a special star, soon to burn out, as she shines so brightly she can't shine for long.

It's like watching a carcrash watching her, your heart's in your mouth the whole time that she's going to fall over, or collapse or forget the words, but you can't take your eyes off her! And that wonderful voice!

She was obviously in no fit state to be on stage and I had to wonder just what the crowd were cheering for. If I went to see a band/group/singer that I appreciate and they gave a performance as poor as she did I'd be somewhat narked.
It is odd that there are stars that are held in such high regard by their fans that they can do virtually anything and they still get the adoration, maybe a sustained round of booing or people voting with their feet might of brought it home to Amy that she is losing it big time.

Tiresome genius, and even then I aint sure about the genius bit.

She should start gospel singing. Her voice would be brilliant for it, and she'd be in better company.

When she's sober and off the crack it is yes. Last night it was horrendous though. Who were you listening to? :suspect:

Maybe I don't have such a finely tuned ear as you? Although I've never been to a live performance that's anywhere near as good as a recording. It's the atmosphere and the ambiance that makes it memorable. But even under the influence of whatever, she's still great ...

And maybe she'd gain a pound or two while doing it, which wouldn't go amiss!:)

But anyways...

The Glasto set was pretty dreadful - her singing voice was crap, her dancing was toe curling, her occasional guitar playing was poor beyond the call, and it was only the professionalism (and patience) of the band which keep it all going.

And even they had that look on their faces, like 'why do we have to put up with this nonsense from that wreck over there just to get paid...? This sucks.'

Yeah some music stars have taken loads of drugs and led reckless lives...which have sometimes contributed to the gravitas and poignancy of their creative output. I think with this one its the reverse.

Compelling watching, but for all the wrong reasons...she is just a mess, who will probably die soon. Good one Amy - Cheers!

Perfect-absolutley spot on.(Wish I'd said that). They live their lives like that so we don't have to.Thats where all that creativity comes from-from the dark side.

Plenty of crazily talented people who aren't druggy messes are out there, 'discovered' or not, and the old cliche of burning out rather than fading away...its mostly self-indulgent twaddle, propelling the 'artist' in question and fuelled by a bunch of yes-men around them, who tell them exactly what they want to hear in order to remain on the engorged entourage pay-roll.

I like my 60s/70s dead rock stars as much as the next bloke, but comparing Conkhouse with Hendrix just makes me laugh.

She's a bit of a cane-head prat who has just about eroded the modicum of talent she had, by getting constantly hammered. I doubt if she's written anything of note in the last year, and the drug/car-crash phenomenon is just a little tired, and more than a little unecassary these days.

I thought her performance was ropey, she would have been better cancelling it and then returing next year after much rehab.
I once went to see babyshambles out of curiosity and was amazed when most of the crowd cheered when Pete Docherty fell about the stage. Why do people cheer when someone off there head on drugs falls over?

Babyshambles gigs were always full of a lot of people just there for the circus. I used to like The Libertines so only really went out of 'loyalty' a few times:rolleyes:. It's been 3 years since I saw them, no idea if they still attract the same people.

Not particularly great when she's having to be propped up by the minders just to stay vertical, mumbling a drugged up, unintelligible and out of tune version of what would normally be good music if you listen to her album and thumping a member of the crowd several times instead of just walking away and letting her minders deal with it.

I went to watch Anastacia a few years ago and she was fantastic live. That woman beat cancer and is still brilliant. Amy could be too if she cleaned up her act but I doubt very much if she wants to. Her problem is self inflicted and she's a disgrace and a very poor role model.

Are you seriously saying that's admirable or are you just arguing against because it's me? :suspect:

i like screwed up musicians as much as (maybe more?) than the next person, but I still hate Whinehouse. It's just naff jazz music for dinner parties. Ugh. Not my cup o' tea at all.

There are and have been hundreds of infinitely more talented musicians with 'issues' much more to my tastes - Lemmy, Shane McGowan, Sandy Denny, Ian Curtis, Bon Scott, Syd Barrett, Janis Joplin, John Martyn, Mark E Smith, Kurt Cobain, even Shaun Ryder. Etc... No need for some stage school madam who looks like a starved she-ape when there's better out there. It's only the drink, drugs and violence which makes her interesting to me. Sorry.

Heard a great deal about this lady re papers tv etc .Basically over her drugs etc. Even Heard a few of her songs, but switched on friday night at the end of the Mandella concert what a waste of press space. Looked like a infant girl trying to pull her skirt down all the time ( if she wanted it longer should have put a longer one on. What you could hear about the lyrics were rubbish and out of tune.:help:

Amen to that RD. Such a complete waste of an amazing talent. The best we have had in years (and this is from someone for whom Metallica and the like reign supreme)....I bought her Back to Black album. Its the ONLY think on my MP3 now.

And from the video footage she now looks a very suspect shade of Dickinson orange....NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO :hihi:
