I have installed M$ anti spyware beta on my laptop twice now. The first time half the programs on my system stopped working. The second time all went well.
During the setup process i selected to manually run the utility instead of it running in the background all the time (I have SpywareGuard and SpywareBlaster taking care of that).
After a while i noticed the fan in the laptop going crazy so i checked in Task Manager and there was 'Giant.exe' running! :o

I ended the process and it started itself again...3 times infact!
I stopped it in msconfig, rebooted and there it was again, only this time the fan was going off it's nut.

Now i am starting to notice this popping up on other forums and i am interested to hear if anyone has any similar problems on here?

well firstly it doesnt pick up ie trackers, but thats no surprise!

as ive said before i always use a few scanners because some will miss stuff.

also as it might not be spyware but a virus id do a panda scan.

anyone know what the process arse.exe is for?? ive seen that but never giant.exe

Giant are the company that made M$ antispyware. Microsoft forgot to change the name of the running process when they bought Giant. If you have never seen it then you have never looked in task manager while it is running
