I get married on 23rd August. I bought my dress last winter. It's long halterneck and purple. I do like it, but think I now want something a bit more weddingy! It's just straight up and down and a bit boring!

I saw a gorgeous Ian Stuart dress in Blissful daze - really gorgeous. Convinced myself that I deserved it and then found out that if I wanted it I should have ordered it 2 months ago.

Now I don't want a full on wedding dress - i am still quite keen on not wearing white, but want something a bit spectacular!

I have less than 2 months - any ideas??????????

try la bella brides or avorio 1 for ideas, the dress you have described sounds stunning (I love purple)

Not sure of other Ian Stuart suppliers in sheffield, you could look in a bride mag for stockists, or even try ebay!

If you're on a budget and don't mind pre-worn, try St Luke's. Last year they had some lovely wedding dresses. Also someone on here earlier this year was selling brand new designer ones really reasonably priced ... was it amron?

oops just saw you said you didn't want white! Some of the bridesmaids dresses are almost nicer than the bridal gowns ... and they come in some great colours too. But I bet with the dress you orginally chose, when you get your headdress and flowers sorted, you'll look stunning!

Hi everyone - Thanks everyone for the ideas. I've booked myself into a couple of shops on Saturday - I'm just hoping that I can find something that I like in the sale stock or their sample stock. That www.jewlzbridal.co.uk looks hopeful too. I like the way that they have a section on the website where you can check what is in stock. La bella brides couldn't fit me in on Saturday and then said that there wouldn't be any point in coming in any later as they wouldn't have time to work on the dress.

Can't quite see why they couldn't have just kept the shop open for another hour or so - a sale is a sale and all that. Can just imagine trying that on at work myself - 'Oh sorry Mr... I can't help you with your urgent court application as I have to go home for my tea!!!!'

Oh well rant over - the dress I have is nice and will be suitable for balls etc if I don't wear it to the wedding - i just think that I want something a bit more exciting! Typical - i wish I'd thought about this 2 months ago!

sorry to hear about that with la bella, would you want the dress altering? My mum does alterations, and she is really good. Ask Waddy!

Em Harrison on here has just opened, or soon to be opening a bridal shop, pm her for some advice she is really nice.

Anyway good luck with the appointments on saturday and let us all know how you get on!

Are you sure you don't like it anymore?

I've found when looking at wedding dresses you look at something so many times that you see it completely differently and forget what made you like it so much in the first place! ;)

I know what you're saying KatieB_23 but it's just not a wedding dress and i think it's a wedding dress I want now. I've been really busy over the past few months and so haven't had the chance to think about the wedding - until now. I knew i would be busy and so tried to get as much done beforehand so that I wouldn't have to deal with wedding stress as well as everything else...... so i think I've put off trying on my dress again as I knew i would have to deal with it - i.e. the whole do i/don't i like it thing.

Now I'm all weddingy, I've tried it on and discovered that I do want a wedding dress!! TYPICAL! I'm going to scour through all the sale and sample dresses and hope for the best!! My saving grace is that I'm a size 10 so hopefully the dresses will either fit or just need taking in a bit.

Well nothing I can do about it now....

Thanks everyone - will let you know how it goes!

That's it! If I don't try to sort it out now - I'll regret it - I know I will! I'm never normally extravagant with money but this is the one day that I want to be able to look back on and think that, without getting into loads of debt, I have splashed out and enjoyed it!

Wahooo!!! Got my dress - http://www.eddyk.com/silhouette/silhouettemain2.html style AA27 (the green one) - but got it in ivory. Got it from Wedding Daze on Abbeydale Road - would happily recommend. Thankfully the sample almost fits perfectly (bar the bust area - which can be taken in) so I've bought that.

Sorted! Thanks everyone for advice!

Thanks Louby loo and fab cakes!! I'm really pleased with it. I'm having the shop do the alterations - they do them in house and given that I'm pushed for time, I just thought this would be the easiest and quickest option. Now I just need to decide what flowers I want, as there is no longer a purple theme, and buy all the accessories. It never ends!!

Thanks but I am actually really organised (bar the dress)! The flowers and cake were booked/ordered months ago. Though I do need to rethink the flower scheme with the florist now!
