View Full Version : What time do you put the little ones to bed?
Camrat78 27-06-2008, 19:17 Just wondering what time we all put our cherubs to bed. Mine is nearly 1 and we put him down about 7. I know quite a few who put theres down at 9 but that seems a little late... plus we wouldn't get much of an evening relax.
7.30 has been bedtime for the gruesome twosome since around 6 months. They still go to bed at that time now, plus some trampolining on the beds if they've had an afternoon nap, some drawer emptying, general bedroom chaos and sibling scrapping. They can be up until 10 if they've had a long sleep in the day.
Tonight, they went to bed with barely a murmur at 7.30. Twingle 1 was laid talking to herself about shapes and numbers before giving me some valued me time :)
Jabberwocky 27-06-2008, 19:24 My one year old goes to bed at 7 and in the week, on school days, so does my five year old.
As its Friday though, the five year old stays up until about 9 and she usually falls asleep in the chair with a book in her hands.
honeyb35 27-06-2008, 19:43 all mine (7, 3, 1) start getting ready at 7.30 and they are all in bed for 8pm. the eldest is allowed to read in bed for a little while tho, but shes always fast asleep by 9
My younger two are in bed by 7, and my 6 year old starys up until about 8, or goes to bed earlier and reads. I feel bad that I feel so happy and relieved when they are all in bed.
Claire1983 27-06-2008, 19:54 My two daughters who are 6 and 5, are in bed between 7:30 and 8:00, and my baby boy who is 8 months is in bed between 7:00 and 7:30.
Because they all have this routine it gives me time to have a tidy round and get things ready for the next day.
SpeedDemon 27-06-2008, 19:55 My 12 year old takes herself off to bed anytime between 9 & 10 - she's now learned to go when she's tired, rather than trying to sneakily stay up until I tell her to go. The 9 year old goes between 8.30 & 9, the 7 year old goes between 7 & 8, depending how much he's getting on my nerves, the 1 year old goes between 7 & 7.30 and the baby sleeps downstairs til we go up :D Oh, and the mummy goes about 10 - 10.30ish unless she's too busy reading SF and the daddy usually goes when he's given the baby her last feed :hihi:
17 month old daughter is always in bed by 7pm but we can sometimes hear her singing to herself for upto an hour!

You just described my 16 month old to a tee :D
sheffandy 27-06-2008, 20:26 our 4 month old little boy is in bed at around 7pm...
the eldest at 9 (he is 13) but he is allowed to read for a while - unless football is on and then he can stay up to watch it
the younger two go at 8 (aged 8 and 5) unless they have a club that finishes later - in which case they are allowed to stay up an extra half hour to wind down.
The weekend tends to be a little more relaxed and they get to stay up an extra hour or so
Well, my 18yearold goes when she wants but is generally in her room for about 10.30pm, my 15 yearold goes at 10pm but reads for a short while, my 14 and12 yearolds go at 9.45pm but usually go straight to sleep and it is now 10.50pm and Littleboo went down 10 mins ago, he is 20 months old he has only had a 20 min nap as well today, the child just doesnt sleep, he will also be up 2/3 times tonight to feed and awake around 7.30 inthe morning. Arrrgghh.
My DD whose 22 months has a bedtime of 8:30ish - it's not set in stone, sometimes it's 8 and on the odd occasion it's 9.
I go for the later bedtime as I don't want to get up early with her, I have no need to get up early either and this way, we have a wake up time of 8am - on a good day that is
my 10yr old goes to bed at 9pm during the week and into her room at 9pm weekends but is allowed to watch TV for an hour but she's almost always asleep for 9:30pm.
The baby (15 weeks) isn't yet in a bed time routine and I feel this is near impossible till she's able to go to her bed alone (6 months the sids foundation recommend) until then we need to go up with her and whilst she usually falls asleep about 10pm depending on the timing of feeds - she doesn't go to "bed" until about 12am.
When she is old enough (6m) she'll be getting into a routine for 7-7:30pm. Thats the plan for now anyway.
lauren84 29-06-2008, 08:22 My baby (10 weeks) has his bath at 9 and then his dad gives him his last bottle whilst I have a bath then we are in bed at 10 (me and baby). I sit and read a book for a while. I manage to sleep until 7-8 in the morning before he wakes up again (which I think is good) At the weekends he just goes up when we go to bed.
The children i used to nanny for went to bed the 5 year old at 7pm , 7 year old at 7.30 and the 9 year old by 8pm , all were read to and given lots of love and time to talk on their own to eith myself or their mum , however when they got older bedtimes changes now they ar in their 20's they are up till 3/4am lol
My daughter is 4 (5 in oct) & she goes to bed at 8pm every day earlier if she decides she is tired & most times is asleep before 8.30.
I do have a problem with her though no matter what time she goes to bed earlier or later she always!! wakes up between 5am & 7am
She has got a blackout blind up & thick lined curtains so it isn't the early light mornings.

*vanessa* 29-06-2008, 10:53 ours are 13 , 11 8 and 3 and they go to bed at 9 , 8.30 , 8 and 7.30 on school nights and half an hour later for each at the weekend.
muckynees 30-06-2008, 10:47 My eldest is 11 and to be honest he knows when he is tired so if he hasn't already gone up I send him around 9ish, sometimes earlier depending on what time he got up. He stays up late at weekends and hols though.
My daughter at 5 also knows when to give in and is usually falling to sleep around 8-8.30 so up she goes.
My youngest is 7 weeks and I have been lucky that from being born she is a good sleeper, she has her last bottle at around 9-9.30 so once I have finished feeding and winding her it's about 10pm at which time I put her to bed and ther she stays until 6.30 maybe 7.00 the next morning.
my eldest (8yrs) goes at 8, the 2 younger ones (3&2) are in bath and bed by 7 30 and my youngest (4mths) is usually settled by 9. then im usually in bed by 10 lol.
Both my 1 and 2 year olds go to bed between 7 and 7.30 and get up between 6.30 and 7.30. They also have a nap in the afternoon from 1pm ish until 2.30ish.
bones123 30-06-2008, 14:54 my lad is 11 and he goes at 8 as he like to watch his tv and weekend its between 9-10
as im a childminder i need my time to chil ;[
LilMissAlien 01-07-2008, 22:48 Baby Alien is going through a very clingy phase and does NOT want to go to bed at all at the moment. He generally falls asleep between 9 and 10pm at the moment and has to have someone there with him. He also won't go in his cot right now either. I'm hoping it's just a phase - there was a time only a few months ago when I could give him a bottle, put him in his cot, leave the room and he'd be fast asleep by 8-8.30pm (I used to be able to do this with night feeds too, but thankfully he doesn't need them anymore). I know he can do it, but we've just moved and he's just turned 1 last week, so he's going through an extra-clingy developmental phase at the moment.
