I just found this site and it says the current record is held by An Australian called Ken Warby which was on August 8th 1978 doing 317.6mph compared to Campbells 276.3mph.

I do seem to remember someone breaking it more recently though within the last year but I could be wrong, I usually am.

The record for a jet powered boat is 317.6 mph - still held by Australian Ken Warby - as already stated. The record for a propeller driven boat is 205 mph, set by an American about 5 years ago...Russ somebody I think.

Quicksilver are attempting to bring the record back to this country with the boat that is being built now. I think their attempt is still a couple of years off though

Thanks for that info Knoxville, all power to Quicksilver whoever they are, I would love to see some record held by our country again.
I read recently that Sheffield Uni had put a lot of design work into an electric car to attempt an electric car speed record, don't know much more about this though.

I believe that a mate of mine hold the world record for the fastest ever remote controlled car.
