Isn't storing a caravan on your drive an open invitation to burglars? It's so obvious when the caravan disappears that the owners are on holiday.
It's like putting a sign up in your garden 'We're on holiday, come and burgle us'
Why don't they put the caravans in storage? or am I just missing the point completely?
Look at this Mo about caravans HERE (http://www.southyorks.police.uk/news/details.php?id=1011)
Can I sponsor a thief? :D
The number of streets totally dominated by these things constantly is disconcerting.
When we were house hunting we went to a culdisac with 13 houses and 11 caravans in it. Can't understand why that house was on the market

I meant that when the caravan is taken away on holiday, thieves will notice that it has gone and deduce that the property is empty.
My dad goes away in his caravan seceral times a year (for the last 20 odd years) and has never been burgled.
Perhaps the simple answer is that most burglars don't live in areas where people own caravans and don't therefore know who is on holiday and who isn't.
High proportion of burglary is to feed drug addiction and their burglaries tend to be done very much in their own locality - not usually areas of high caravan ownership.

Hmmmm.......from what I've seen around Sheffield, its usually "affluent" areas that put their caravans into storage. Its the poor scrubbers with their 1970's shed that leave em on the drive.
Its on the deeds for the houses on our estate that residents are not allowed to have caravans on the drives
Coopster - what percentage of houses in Sheffield costing under £200k have drives?
Isn't it more likely that people who use storage for their van are people who say - for sake of arguement - have a terrace in Crookes / Walkley / Hillsborough?

So does ours, but people do. It also says that wheelie bins shouldn't be at the front of the properties and satelite dishes shouldn't be erected.
Waste of time as nobody takes any notice and to take action would require the services of a solicitor £££££££££££££££££££.

So shall I knock together that sponsorship form then :D
