Who'll win the Euro 2008 Final?

Spain played really well tonight to beat the Russians.

The final should be a close game, but I fancy the Germans .... after extra time.

I agree .... the tournament has been very entertaining although, for me at least, it's not had the same appeal as if England (or another one of the Home Nations) had been involved. Seen some very enjoyable matches nevertheless.

I reckon Spain will wn Euro 2008. They deserve to. And if Germany play against Spain like they did against Turkey and Croatia - especially in defence, I can only see one outcome. They'll be ripped to pieces.

They're easily the best team at the tournament - mind you, that could have been guessed coming in. The thing is, Spain are very often the best team in a tournament when it starts, and never convert it into trophies. It's 20-odd years since they reached a final; have they cracked the secret at last?

As for Germany .... never bet against the Germans. They've never had the best team in a tournament, or anything vaguely approaching the best team, but they seem to win things regardless.

I've voted for Germany simply based on the reason given here by Heyesey.
But they can't win it against the far superior Spanish, can they?
The Spanish, on present form, should romp it. They should score a hat full. Maybe by 3 or 4 goals to 1. The Germans have been pretty poor all through the tournament. The Spanish have been hugely impressive for the most part.

Let's take a look at what are, at least in most people's eyes, the three best footballing teams we've ever seen. (at international level...)

1970, Brazil; 1954, Hungary; 1974, Holland.

Two of those teams didn't win the World Cup Final. Guess who beat them. ;)

Here's a laugh for you. I reckon it will depend on the weather.
When Russia played Sweden and Holland they were brilliant, but tonight they didn't put the work in, in the 2nd half. Before, when they went a goal down they upped their game but tonight they just gave up. They were either knackered after the Holland game or, as I believe, totally dejected by the continuous torrential downpour. The Spanish on the other hand weren't bothered by the weather, got their heads down and did the job.

Schwein rod steiger has shown glimpses of quality, and so has Larry the Lahm, but other than that...... nothin'.

I don't know why, but they just never seem to bottle it whilst Spain were no better than Italy in the quarter finals.

spains been the most consistant team all round and played the better football.
germany have been very lucky should have gone out to the turks who should have gone out to croatia in the quater finals. holland and russia were very good in spurts but the latter totally out played by spain. france, italy awful. so all in all spain deserve to be in the final and hopefully win it as i had 20 quid on them at 5/1. also had a tenner on kloser at 10's to be top scorer so a 4-3 win for spain with a kloser hatrick and no goals from the spanish strikers would do me mighty fine.

Just watched a slow-motion replay of Torres pulling Lahm backwards by the arm so that he could get through to score... and the commentators are applauding his strength. Didn't anyone tell them this is not a rugby match? :huh:
